HOW TO BECOME ONE? WHAT DOES A DENTAL GRADUATE DO?

The Department of Dentistry in Turkey is for a total of 5 years, including preparation. During the first two years, theoretical courses are weighted, while in the last 3 years, more practical courses are held. As of 2020, there are 86 Faculties of Dentistry in Turkey. WHAT DOES A DENTIST DO?

1- attracts rotten and broken teeth.

3- he listens to the patient’s complaints, diagnoses the disease by taking an X-ray of his teeth and jaw.

WHAT ARE THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DENTIST?

Dentists in Turkey must comply with the fee tariff prepared by the Turkish Dental Association. It is forbidden to charge patients above this tariff. In addition, dentists have a number of responsibilities to fulfill against their patients. These responsibilities, also called professional ethics, include:

1- dentists should respect the patient’s choices. If there is more than one treatment option, it should offer these options to the patient. However, based on their professional experience, they should explain to the patient which treatment is more suitable for them.

2- the treatments applied to incoming patients and the drugs given should be kept under record.

3- all medical equipment used in the Office must be sterilized. All tools, especially milling and cavitron, should not be used in other patients without cleaning.

4- care should be taken to clean the Office, the dentist should wash his hands with surgical hand washing solutions after each patient.

5- informing the patient about dental care and health is also one of the duties and responsibilities of dentists.

6- the patient has the right to get an opinion from another dentist. Every dentist should respect the right of patients.

7- dentists inform patients about correct brushing techniques and flossing. It gives illustrated brochures prepared by the Ministry of Health to patients and relatives of patients in Turkey.
