ABOUT RELEX SMILE IN TURKEY

.
RELEX SMILE (SMALL INCISION LENTICULE EXTRACTION) IS A MODERN LASER EYE SURGERY TECHNIQUE USED TO TREAT NEARSIGHTEDNESS WITH OR WITHOUT ASTIGMATISM. IT DIFFERS FROM TRADITIONAL LASIK IN THAT IT IS FLAPLESS AND MINIMALLY INVASIVE. THE PROCEDURE INVOLVES CREATING A LENTICULE WITHIN THE CORNEA USING A FEMTOSECOND LASER TECHNOLOGY, WHICH IS THEN EXTRACTED THROUGH A SMALL INCISION, PRESERVING THE CORNEA’S STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY. IT’S CONSIDERED AN ADVANCED AND EFFECTIVE OPTION FOR VISION CORRECTION.
.

.
SUITABLE PATIENTS FOR RELEX SMILE

For relex smile laser surgery in Turkey eye hospitals apart from improving the person visions, surgery is suitable for males and females over age 18 and between 40 who are at good health condition and both mentally and physically.

.
RELEX SMILE SURGERY PROCEDURE

The patient eye is anesthetized with eye drops and a lid speculum is positioned to prevent the eye from blinking. A refractive lenticule and small incision is created inside the intact cornea.

The lenticule is then removed through the incision with minimal disruption to the  corneal biomechanics.

Removing the lenticule will change the shape of cornea and achieving the desired refractive correction.

The surgery procedure is then undertaken using a Visumax femtosecond laser as single step. The procedure takes around 10-15 minutes on each eye.

.
BEFORE RELEX SMILE

  • Hard contact lenses must not be worn from 3 weeks before the surgery.
    .
  • Soft contact lenses must not be worn from a week before the surgery.
    .
  • Patients must stop taking any medication and herbal supplements a day before the surgery.
    .
  • Patients must not wear makeup before the surgery.
    .
  • Patients must arrange for someone to come to the hospital with them and assist them for at least a day at home.

.

  • Medication including eye drops which may be prescribed by the ophthalmologist must be taken correctly on time.
    .
  • Patients can return to work after 2-3 days from the surgery.
    .
  • Patients must avoid wearing make up and cosmetics and lenses for at least 2 weeks after the surgery.
    .
  • Patients can return to their normal activities within 2-3 days.

.
RISK OF RELEX SMILE TREATMENTS

There is a slight possibility of risks to occur like in every surgery such as;

  • Halos.
  • Starbusts.
  • Dry eyes.
  • Corneal ectasia.
  • Optical imbalance.

.
DEFINITION OF RELEX SMILE

Cornea – transparent part of the eye covering the iris and pupil.

Astigmatism – the front surface of the eye is less round and more irregular in shape so the image does not focus clearly on the retina in the back of the eye, which can result in poor vision and glare.

Lid speculum – an instrument used to keep the eyes wide open and free from blinking.

Incision – surgical cut made in the skin during surgery or treatment.

Short sightedness – objects that are closer can be seen clearly but those that are away can’t be seen.

Corneal ectasia – inner layers of the cornea weakening.

.
FIRST DAY

The patient will attend a consultation with the ophthalmologist and will be advised about the procedure and their condition. The patient will then be taken through a couple of tests that are required before the treatment. If desired, patients can spend the day to rest and attend the clinic the next day.

.
SECOND DAY

Relex Smile doctor eye surgery in Turkey is performed. Surgery usually takes 10-15 minutes for each eye. If the treatment is done on both eyes then the duration will take 25 minutes using Visumax Femtosecond laser device. The surgery is done with local anesthetic and once the surgery is over and the patient is feeling better, they are able to go to their settlement.

.
THIRD DAY

Patients will attend a post surgery check up and consultation. If they are approved to be in a good, healthy condition and the surgery results were all successful; the patients are advised with post treatment care requirements and are ready to go back to their normal routine.
