ABOUT INTRALASIK IN TURKEY

.
INTRALASE ALSO KNOWN AS ILASIK, IS A BLADE-FREE TECHNIQUE USED IN THE INITIAL STEP OF LASIK SURGERY TO CREATE CORNEAL FLAP. THIS METHOD REPLACES THE TRADITIONAL METAL BLADE OR SCALPEL WITH A LASER TO CREATE A PRECISE AND UNIFORM CORNEAL FLAP. FOLLOWING THE CREATION OF FLAP, AN EXCIMER LASER IS THEN USED TO RESHAPE THE INNER CORNEA, CORRECTING VISION. INTRALASE TECHNOLOGY OFFERS A MORE PRECISE AND CUSTOMIZABLE APPROACH TO LASIK SURGERY, ENHANCING SAFETY AND REDUCING POTENTIAL COMPLICATIONS. IT HAS BECOME A POPULAR CHOICE FOR MANY TO SEEK A LASER VISION CORRECTION.
.

.
INTRALASIK PROCEDURE

For the IntraLASIK laser surgery in Turkey eye hospitals apart from improving the person visions, take less than 15 seconds to perform per eye, and the whole Lasik surgery takes 10 minutes. Numbing drops and other medications will be used in the eye to relax the patient. The patient will lie on their back in a reclining chair. The laser will harmlessly pass through the cornea and create rows of bubbles beneath the corneal surface by moving back and forth across the eye. IntraLase laser will stack bubbles around the corneas diameter to create edges of the flap that are determined by the ophthalmologist. Then the flap will be gently lifted to allow for the second step of the Lasik treatment. Once the treatment is completed, the flap will easily get back into position and start healing..

.
SUITABLE PATIENTS FOR INTRALASIK

IntraLase eye surgery in Turkey can be an option for patients if they have any one of these human eye vision problems:

  • Patients – over the age of 18.
    .
  • Male and female – who are at good health condition.
    .
  • Healthy – mentally and physically.
    .
  •  Astigmatism – the cornea curves or flattens unevenly. Astigmatism disrupts focus of near and distant vision.
    .
  • Nearsightedness, myopia – the eyeball is slightly longer than normal or when the cornea curves sharply. The light rays focus in front of the retina and blur distant vision. Objects that are closer can be seen clearly but those that are away can not be seen.
    .
  • Farsightedness, hyperopia – eyeball is shorter than average or the cornea is too flat that light focuses behind the retina instead of focusing on it. This makes the near vision and sometimes the distant vision blurry.

.
BEFORE INTRALASIK TREATMENT

  • Patients must arrange for someone to come to the surgery with them and to assist them after the surgery.
    .
  • Patients must stop wearing soft contact lenses 7 days before the surgery, toric lenses 2 weeks before the surgery and rigid gas permeable lenses 3 weeks before the surgery.
    .
  • Patients will be taken through some tests before the surgery. The eye will be valuated by using wavefront guided technology and the shape and contour of the cornea will be measured.

.
AFTER INTRALASIK TREATMENT

  • Patients must avoid shampoo in the eyes for a week.
    .
  • Patients must not watch TV or work on a computer after the surgery.
    .
  • Cosmetics can start to be worn after a few weeks from the surgery.
    .
  • Vision won’t be clear straight away after the surgery. It will take about 2-3 months after the surgery for the eye to heal and vision to  stabilize.
    .
  • Patients may be asked to wear a shield over the eye at night until the eye heals.
    .
  • Patients will be prescribed medication and eye drops to use after the surgery.

.
RISK OF INTRALASIK TREATMENTS

There is a slight possibility of risks to occur like in every surgery such as;

  • Under correction – if the laser removes less tissue than needed, desired result won’t be achieved.
    .
  • Overcorrection – if the laser removes too much tissue from the eye.
    .
  • Visual loss or change – rarely patients may experience loss of vision due to surgical complications.
    .
  • Astigmatism – caused by uneven tissue removal.
    .
  • Glare, halos and double vision – may be difficulty seeing at night. Glare or halos or double vision can occur around bright lights.
    .
  • Dry eyes – can cause a temporary decrease in tear production. Eyes can feel dry up to 6 months from the surgery. Eye drops can be used to help.
    .
  • Infection – inner eye infections.

.

DEFINITION OF INTRALASIK

Cornea – transparent part of the eye covering the iris and pupil.

Corneal flap – flap created during surgery, created by cutting through the corneal epithelium

Anesthetic drops – drops given to numb to eye so the patient does not feel any discomfort during the surgery and being awake.

.
FIRST DAY

The patient will attend a consultation with the ophthalmologist and will be advised about the procedure and their condition. The patient will then  be taken through a couple of tests that are required before the treatment. If desired, patients can spend the day to rest and attend the clinic the next day.

.
SECOND DAY

IntraLASIK Eye Surgery, (iLASIK) will be performed. IntraLASIK surgery usually takes 10 minutes per eye. The surgery can be performed on  both eyes on the same day if needed. Once the surgery is over and the patient is feeling better the patient can then go to their settlement with someone accompanying.

.
THIRD DAY

Patients will attend a post surgery check up and consultation. If they are approved to be in good, healthy condition and the surgery results were all successful; the patients are advised with post treatment care requirements and are ready to go back to their normal routine.
