THE TRUTH IS: It cannot be applied to everyone who wants bariatric surgery. It is decided whether a person is a suitable candidate for bariatric surgery by looking at the following criteria:
1- Do you have any disease and only have a body mass index of 40 kg/m2 and above?
2- Do you have a body mass index of 35 kg/m2, as well as type-2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea, asthma, etc., and do these diseases adversely affect your quality of life?
3- Your body mass index is 27 kg/m2 and you have concomitant diseases, have you not been able to benefit from diet, exercise and pharmacological treatment with a specialist for at least six months?
4- Do you have advanced heart disease, cancer, liver cirrhosis, etc. diseases? Obesity surgery cannot be applied to those with this type of disease.
5- Is there alcohol and substance abuse? Obesity surgery cannot be performed on such dependent people.
6- Are you at reproductive age and thinking about becoming a mother soon? If you are planning to become a mother soon, you should definitely consult your doctor. Because during 24 months of pregnancy is not recommended after bariatric surgery surgery.
