HAIR TRANSPLANTS SHOULD BE DONE IN STRICTLY LICENSED PLACES

The contribution of health tourism to the Turkish economy is great. But recently, hair transplants performed under the stairs by unauthorized persons have a negative impact on the course. A hair transplant that is a serious tissue transplant should be performed under the supervision of a 5-20 years experienced Turkish operator doctor and in licensed places such as JCI accedited high-tech top facility available hospitals.

In recent years, the wrong people have performed hair transplantation procedures, which has negatively affected our country’s health tourism. As Turkey Medicals, we share the answer to some questions on the topic.

How do we evaluate hair transplant within the scope of medical tourism in Turkey?

Our country is actually the first preferred country in the world for Turkey hair transplant tourism with the momentum in health tourism that it has gained over the last 15 years. Whether we are where we deserve to be or not, whether we get more or not, we will touch later on this issue. For the male best hair transplant surgery and female hair transplants in Turkety is an aesthetic operation, but it is an application that should be performed under the supervision of a specialist doctor in more surgical and clinical centers. From a numerical point of view, we are sharing with you for the first time the 2021 issues of hair transplants performed in clinics and general hospitals located on a legal basis.

We can share a very clear figure today. According to figures, we welcomed 1 million 286 thousand foreign patients in Turkey in 2021 and treated foreign patients from 168 countries. So, the share of transplant in it is 750 thousand people, and this is a pretty good figure. In fact, our minimum expectation was about one and a half million, but these numbers obtained are the official registration results.

Unfortunately, there are even more such stairs than this, the number of tax-free operations. Tax-free hair transplant performed by unlicensed and illegal persons should be urgently prevented for our country.

.
WE ARE LOSING FOREIGN CURRENCY

Does it attribute a decrease in the share of hair transplant surgery in health tourism in Turkey to this?

Yes, in fact, as we expected the number of people who came this year to be around one and a half million. The figures we can record are 750 thousand, but at least 2 times as many are under the stairs in Istanbul mostly and are considered unregistered. A visit was made to our Minister of health, last week regarding this issue, and this issue was raised. These arrangements need to be made as soon as possible so that we can get ahead of the teams going abroad. Clinically licensed parties are subject to and pay taxes. Therefore, their cost is rising. But the prices for hair surgery performed in unlicensed places and without a licensed doctor are very low. Especially with high money and uncontrolled advertising, these unskilled people are introduced as doctors and patients are deceived by pretending that unlicensed places are licensed. Unfortunately, this situation endangers the patient’s health and life, and our country is being unfairly denigrated. Because there is really no fault of our health workers who do this professionally.

.
UNCONTROLLED HAIR SURGERY CAN CAUSE DEATHS

What is the reason for the large number of under-stairs operations that do not do their job properly?

Lack of legislation. Our Ministry of Health can correct the lack of legislation. With a quick decree, our state elders can solve this problem. When this problem is solved, a turnover of 5-6 billion dollars will be reflected in the Turkish economy with hair transplant treatment easily. We are talking about a very important product that is exported on the spot. As soon as possible, we need to take control of the teams that go abroad, destroy the unfair competitive environment of these teams in Turkey, put them in a licensed and supervised position that legally taxes everyone and does their job properly.

What do we say about the hair transplant of many unauthorized people such as secretaries, ambulance drivers in Turkey?

Hair transplants, which has contributed a lot to the Turkish economy and is a very important procedure surgically, is the most important tissue transplant in the world. One should not perceive this as wearing a wig in a hairdresser. It must be planted under the supervision of a doctor, licensed and in the appropriate place. Unfortunately, some of our health care friends also have a big share in the upbringing of such people. We can call it the courage of the ignorant. There are patients who died as a result of uncontrolled hair surgery or even became disabled. For this reason, it is necessary to increase the ministry’s inspections and criminal requirements.

.
INCENTIVES HAVE BEEN EFFECTIVE

So, what are the studies conducted by the state on health tourism?

In particular, the incentives given by the Ministry of commerce in health tourism were very important. In order for us to reach this position as a leader country, the fact that Turkish Airlines has a very wide international flight network plays an effective role. Turkish Airlines has been the vehicle that provides the country’s economy with 10 billions of dollars in health and tourism revenues. Of course, we express our gratitude to Mr. President Erdogan here. Because the health reforms that he has made for 10-15 years are also an important vision in Turkey’s coming to this position. We should definitely not abuse the right of the President and his team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

.
LAST YEAR, 1 MILLION 268 THOUSAND PEOPLE CAME TO OUR COUNTRY WITH HEALTH TOURISM

What is place of health tourism in the world and in Turkey in numerical terms with its economic contribution to our country?

As general health tourism consists of several segments. These are medical tourism, dental tourism, thermal tourism, spa, wellness tourism, health tourism, barrier-free tourism, healthy living colony tourism, third age advanced and active life tourism in 8 advanced tourism segment. They all gather under the umbrella of health tourism.

Through all of these segments, 1 million 268 thousand foreign guests came to our country. Last year, we welcomed people from 268 countries and collected our statistical information from our members. We can now announce these figures to the whole world. In this context, the economic contribution of health tourism to our country is around 12.6 billion dollars; it has made a great economic contribution.

In a medical tourism that comes to about 10 thousand dollars per person, that is 2 thousand dollars for a hair transplant, but up to 100 thousand dollars for bone marrow in Turkey hospital, 30 thousand dollars for the best kidney transplant. It varies according to the weight of the operation, so when we average it, the average return on medical tourism is about 10 thousand dollars, and according to the numbers we receive, it is 12.6 billion dollars in total. In other words, we have made a direct contribution to the Turkish economy in 2021.

As Turkey Medicals our mission is no stopping, keep moving, and keep working hard.
