HEALTH TOURISM IN GENERAL

If people’s attention to their health increases, health services become competitive and cost differences remain the main element, the demand for health tourism in our country will increase even faster in the future. The height of health spending in developed countries, the difficulties experienced by this country’s Social Security Systems, the rapidly aging population and the developments in transport technology have been the starting point for therapeutic travel. Advances in information technologies and the ease with which people experience access to all kinds of information have been the driving force of therapeutic travel. In particular, it is predicted by experts that the increase in demand for plastic surgery will continue, thus creating a significant demand for overseas services and will be replaced by heart surgeries, which are the main element of health tourism.

In our country, in 2021 there are 56 JCI accredited health care organizations accredited to international standards. Private, public and university hospitals, especially in Istanbul and Ankara, are equipped with the highest technology in the world. Many new build hospitals in Turkey also provide oncological treatments, cardiovascular surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, Pediatric Surgery, plastic surgery, advanced technology health services in eyes and teeth.
