ABOUT DENTAL IMPLANT IN TURKEY

.
DENTAL IMPLANT TREATMENT IS PERFORMED BY ORAL SURGEONS OR DENTISTS IN TURKEY WHO SPECIALIZE IN IMPLANT DENTISTRY. THE DENTIST WILL ASSESS THE PATIENT’S ORAL HEALTH AND DETERMINE IF THEY ARE A SUITABLE CANDIDATE FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS. X-RAYS OR CT SCANS MAY BE TAKEN TO EVALUATE CONDITION OF THE JAWBONE AND SURROUNDING TISSUES. THE DENTIST WILL SURGICALLY PLACE THE TITANIUM IMPLANT INTO THE JAWBONE. THE IMPLANT SERVES AS THE ARTIFICIAL ROOT OF THE MISSING TOOTH AND WILL INTEGRATE WITH THE SURROUNDING BONE OVER A PERIOD OF SEVERAL MONTHS. AFTER THE IMPLANT IS PLACED, THE PATIENT WILL NEED TO WAIT FOR A FEW MONTHS TO ALLOW THE IMPLANT TO FUSE WITH THE JAWBONE. THIS PROCESS, KNOWN AS OSSEOINTEGRATION, IS CRUCIAL FOR THE STABILITY AND SUCCESS OF THE IMPLANT.

DENTAL IMPLANT PROCEDURE

For the implant teeth by dentist in Turkey before treatment the dental patient will have to go through some processes as;

Comprehensive Dental Exam – dental X-rays will be taken and models of the teeth and mouth measurements will be made by the specialist dentists.

Treatment Plan – depending on the situation factors like how many teeth needed and the  condition of the jawbone, a treatment plan will be made. Planning will need a variety of dental specialists including a dentist, oral and maxillofacial surgeon who is specialized in conditions of the mouth, jaw and face and periodontist who is a dentist, working on the structures that support the teeth.

Dental solutions such as dental implants, crowns, veneers, lumineers, all on four, all on six, all on eight, three on six, and many more surgical and cosmetic dental treatments are available for choice.

Dental implant treatment in Turkey, is performed on outpatient basis and in stages so there is no need to bed stay at the hospital;

  1. The damaged tooth is removed.
    .
  2. Jawbone is prepared for the treatment- may involve bone grafting.
    .
  3. Once jawbone has healed the oral surgeon will place a dental implant metal post into the jawbone.
    .
  4. Patient will go through a healing process which can take a few weeks.
    .
  5. The oral surgeon will place the abutment – an extension of the implant metal post and then followed by the crown.

This process can take 1-2 months from start to end and maybe longer depending on the extent of treatment.

If the jawbone is not thick enough then bone grafting may be needed before the implant  treatment. Bone graft can create a solid base for the implant. During bone grafting a piece of bone is removed from another part of the jaw or the body and transplanted to the jawbone.

During the treatment, in order to place the dental implant, the surgeon will make a cut to open the gum and expose the bone. Holes will be drilled into the bone where the dental i plant metal post is going to be placed. Once the metal implant post is placed in the jawbone  osseointegration will begin. This is the process where the jawbone grows into and becomes united with the surface of the dental implant. This process can take up to six months and this will provide a solid base for the new artificial tooth like roots. Once osseointegration is  complete additional treatment may be needed to place the abutment. This minor treatment is done with local anesthesia on an outpatient basis.

To place the abutment;

  • The oral surgeon will reopen the gum to expose the dental implant.
    .
  • The abutment will be attached to the dental implant.
    .
  • The gum tissue is then closed around but not over the abutment.

Once the abutment is placed the gums have to heal for a week or 2 weeks before the artificial  tooth can be attached. The Turkey dental specialist and patient can pick from two types of artificial teeth to use.

Removable Implant Prosthesis – similar to conventional removable denture, it contains artificial white teeth surrounded by a pink plastic gum. It is mounted on a metal frame, which is attached to the implant abutment and snaps securely into place. It is easily removed for  repair or cleaning.

Fixed Implant Prosthesis – the artificial tooth is permanently screwed or cemented onto an  individual implant abutment. The tooth cannot be removed for cleaning or during sleep. Each crown is attached to its own dental implant. Known as implant types are, all-on-4 dental implants, all-on 6 dental implants, all-on-8 dental implants and full-mouth implant restoration is available in Turkey.
