GLASSES WITH SMART LENSES ARE BECOMING HISTORY
Turkey Medicals member and Faculty Member of the Department of Ophthalmology Prof. Doctor in Antalya, explained that with the development of technology, he was able to get rid of far and near vision problems at the same time with smart lenses that can be applied to suitable patients at the same time as cataract surgery. Op., Who stated that cataract can be defined as a deterioration of visual clarity as a result of the matting of the natural lens that provides clear vision inside the eye. Dr. said, “Cataracts do not cover the entire eye at the beginning, so there is no significant deterioration in vision. It is a disease that usually progresses slowly over the years. Cataracts, which are more common with aging, can sometimes also be seen in newborn babies, diabetics, people who have suffered a blow to the eye, and those who take long-term cortisone medications,” he said.

SYMPTOMS OF CATARACT
Giving information about the symptoms of cataract, Operator doctor said, “People who develop cataracts experience a gradual decrease in vision. HOW IS IT TREATED?
Stating that with the developing technology and increasing the experience of physicians, comfortable and natural vision can be provided at any age in cataract surgery, Ophthalmology Prof. Doctor said, “Cataract cannot be treated with medication or glasses. The only method of treatment for this disease is surgery. Cataract surgeries are operations performed with local anesthesia and last an average of 20-30 minutes. With surgery, intraocular lenses are placed instead of lenses that become dull in the eye,” he said. Op., Who stated that it is possible to get rid of far and near glasses with smart lenses, the use of which is increasing with the developing technology.
Dr. continued: “Smart lenses can be applied to patients aged 50 years and over who have cataracts or who have far and/or near vision problems and do not want to use glasses. But before the operation, a detailed examination of the patient’s eye structure must be performed to ensure that it is suitable for these lenses. In addition, smart lenses may be preferred for patients with astigmatism.”
