.
WHAT IS HUMAN EYE CATARACT?

Cataract is the dimming of the natural lens of the eye, which is located behind the pupil and provides vision, losing its transparency. In other words, your vision deteriorates as if you are looking through a steamed glass.

Cataract is an eye disease seen in people over middle age, but it is an eye disease that can be seen in newborns, diabetics, after physical blows to the eye and in those who take long-term cortisone medications.

.
SYMPTOMS OF EYE CATARACTS

  • Gradual reduction in vision
  • Sensitivity to light (dazzle)
  • Double vision
  • Difficulty reading
  • Distortion in night vision
  • Fading or yellowing of colors
  • Frequent changes in the number of glasses

.
CAUSES OF CATARACTS

Most cataracts develop when the tissue that forms the lens of your eye changes as a result of aging or injuries. Some inherited genetic disorders that cause other health problems may increase your risk of cataracts. Cataracts can also be caused by other eye conditions, past eye surgeries, or medical conditions such as diabetes. Long-term use of Steroid medications can also lead to the development of cataracts.

.
HOW DOES CATARACT IN EYES OCCUR?

The lens through which cataracts form is located behind the colored part of your eye (iris). The lens focuses the light entering your eye, producing clear and sharp images on the retina (the light-sensitive membrane in the eye works like film on a camera).

As you get older, the lenses in your eye become less flexible, less transparent and thicker. Age-related and other medical conditions cause tissues within the lens to break down and assemble together, which blurs small areas within the lens.

As cataracts continue to develop, the blur becomes more intense and involves a larger portion of the lens. A cataract prevents light from dissipating as it passes through the lens, preventing a sharply defined image from reaching the retina. As a result, your vision becomes blurred.

Cataracts usually develop in both eyes, but not equally. Cataracts in one eye can be more advanced than others and can cause differences of opinion between the eyes.

.
RISK FACTORS FOR CATARACTS

Factors that increase your risk of cataracts include:

  • Increased age
  • Diabetes
  • Overexposure to sunlight
  • Smoke
  • Obesity
  • Hypertension
  • Previous eye injury or inflammation
  • Previous eye surgery
  • Long-term use of corticosteroid drugs
  • Use excessive amounts of alcohol

5 STAR CATARACT TREATMENTS IN ANTALYA TURKEY

Antalya cataract Surgery is the only option in cataract treatment in Turkey. When cataract reduces visual acuity to a certain level, it needs to be treated properly. It can be treated at an early stage if it begins to negatively affect the patient’s professional function or daily life by adding at an initial level. Cataract surgery has experienced significant innovations in recent years. The use of premium intraocular lenses after cataract surgery in patients with multifocal intraocular lenses and keeping their lives in a more comfortable way than ever before through can see far and near without glasses.

Antalya cataract surgery involves removing the matte lens and replacing it with an artificial lens. The artificial lens, called the intraocular lens, is placed in the same place as your natural lens.

For some people, it is not appropriate to use an artificial lens due to other eye problems. In these cases, vision can be corrected with glasses or contact lenses after the cataract is removed.

Cataract surgery is usually outpatient, meaning you won’t need to stay in hospital after surgery. During cataract surgery, your ophthalmologist uses local anesthesia to numb the area around the eye, but usually you stay awake during the procedure.

For the eye laser surgeries in Istanbul and Antalya is generally safe, but carries a risk of infection and bleeding. Cataract surgery increases the risk of retinal detachment. After the procedure, you will feel discomfort for several days. Recovery usually takes place within eight weeks.

If you need Antalya cataract surgery in both eyes, Turkey Medicals member Turkish doctors will schedule surgery to remove the cataract in the second eye after healing after the first operation.
