WHAT IS INTRAOCULAR LENS SURGERY IN TURKEY?

Turkey Medicals, explains to us, “Fakik Intraocular Lens is if crushing defects such as hypermetropia, myopia and astigmatism are too high to be corrected by LASIK treatment, and the thickness of the cornea is not sufficient for LASIK treatment in Antalya hospitals Turkey, Phacic intraocular lens treatment is a method that can be preferred as an alternative.”

“Far from myopia, far from hyperopia, is the inability to see clearly. Astigmatism, on the other hand, is distorted and broken vision due to the fact that light entering the eye falls at multiple points in the retina. Astigmatism can be due to the cornea or the natural lens inside the eye. The Fakik lens is placed in front or behind the “iris”, the colored part of the eye.” was said.
.

AM I SUITABLE FOR FAKIK INTRAOCULAR LENS?

It can be understood by a detailed eye examination whether this treatment can be applied in people over the age of 21 and who have not detected changes in the refractive error in the last 1 year. In particular, the depth of the cornea and anterior chamber of the eye is evaluated during the examination.

If there is no condition that can prevent surgery, today, myopia is about 8 – 10, and hypermetropia is about 5 refractive errors above the number can be intervened with a Phacic intraocular lens.
.

FAKIK INTRAOCULAR LENS APPLICATION

Acıbadem eye health units; astigmatism, myopia, farsightedness in the treatment of Phacic Intraocular Lens treatment is applied.

In our units, our doctors, whose specialty is laser and intraocular lens, perform your operation.

Your eligibility for laser surgery and which type of laser to choose are determined after a detailed examination of your doctor.
.

STEPS OF INTRAOCULAR LENS PLACEMENT

The patient is put to sleep with general anesthesia. Therefore, there is no pain sensation during the procedure.

3 small incisions are made in the cornea. The largest of these is 3.2 mm. from a tunnel-shaped incision in width, The Phacic intraocular lens is placed in the appropriate position inside the eye with the help of an apparatus.

The intraocular lens is placed in front or behind the iris, no interference with the natural lens of the eye is made during the procedure.

Antibiotic medication is dripped in the eye. The process is terminated.

Surgery is an average of 15 minutes for one eye. it takes. Although preferably two eyes are operated on different days, they can also be performed on the same day.
.

AFTER INTRAOCULAR LENS SURGERY IN TURKEY

Protective glasses are used on the day of surgery. There is no need to stay in hospital after surgery. If edema does not occur in the cornea, normal vision is observed the next day. Antibiotic, cortisone eye drops and tear drops will be used in accordance with your doctor’s recommendations.

Routine checks after surgery 1. Day, 1. Week 1 moon and 3. it is months, but if your doctor deems it appropriate, the control can change the frequency and duration.
.

PROBLEMS THAT CAN BE SEEN AFTER INTRAOCULAR LENS SURGERY

If the number remains in the eye, it can be reset with Excimer laser if there are no contraindications.

Edema in the transparent layer of the eye (cornea): the innermost layer of the cornea can develop if there is damage during surgery. It will usually pass with drops that your doctor will give.

High intraocular pressure (glaucoma): a condition that can be seen after intraocular surgery. It causes eye pain. It will usually pass with drops that your doctor will give. It may very rarely require a second intervention.
Incision (cataract) in our natural intraocular lens: it can develop if there is contact with the natural lens during surgery. In rare cases, it may require cataract surgery.

Eye infection: serious infections can be seen after intraocular surgery, although very rare. It is an important condition, it requires early intervention.
Bleeding: there may be bleeding in the veins in the Iris tissue. It can usually be easily controlled.

Tear in the retina: this is a condition that is rarely seen after intraocular surgery. It should be intervened by a retinal specialist.

If a patient who is placed in a phacic intraocular lens develops age-related cataracts in Old Age, The Phacic intraocular lens placed in the eye is taken, cataract surgery is performed, and the artificial intraocular lens, whose number is calculated in advance, is placed in the lens capsule. Fakik intraocular lens surgery is not an obstacle to future eye surgery.
.

CAN ASTIGMATISM BE CORRECTED WITH FAKIK INTRAOCULAR LENS SURGERY?

Astigmatism can be corrected with specially developed Fakik intraocular lenses. Excimer laser can be corrected if the number remains in the eye.
.

TRIFOCAL INTRAOCULAR LENS

Thanks to our ability to adapt (Accommodation), the clarity in our image is maintained when looking from a distant object to a nearby object. The ciliary muscles inside our eyes contract and relax, and as a result, the thickness of the transparent lens inside changes the breaking power of our lens.

As we age, the lens loses its flexibility and we become unable to do the accommodation we do to see the closer. This condition usually occurs in the early forties and increases in severity over time.

The most commonly used treatment methods for near vision problems (presbyopia) are glasses and contact lenses, but surgical methods can also be used to correct near vision problems. The most common use of these methods is to remove our natural lens as it was taken in cataract surgery and replace it with a trifocal (multi-focus) artificial intraocular lens.

As with cataract surgery, trifocal intraocular lens surgery is daily, there is no need to stay in the hospital.

In first week after surgery, it will be appropriate to rest in accordance with the doctor’s recommendations. Routine checks after surgery 1. Day, 1. Week 1 month and 6. but control frequency and duration may vary.
.

APPLICATION OF TRIFOCAL INTRAOCULAR LENS

In Acibadem eye health units, trifocal intraocular Lens treatment is performed for near vision problems.

In our units, our doctors, whose specialty is laser and intraocular lens, perform your operation.

Your eligibility for intraocular Lens surgery and which type of laser to choose are determined after a detailed examination of your doctor.
.

TO WHOM IS THE TRIFOCAL INTRAOCULAR LENS APPLIED?

A trifocal intraocular lens can be applied to those who do not have any eye disease (yellow spot disease, diabetes-related eye bleeding, etc.).
.

WHY CAN IT BE PREFERRED OVER OTHER CLOSE VISION LASER METHODS?

Currently, if there is no retinal disease (yellow spot disease, eye bleeding due to diabetes, etc.) in older patients, trifocal intraocular lens is preferred for surgical treatment of near vision problem. Other close-Vision laser methods do not provide as successful close-vision as the trifocal lens.
.

PROBLEMS THAT CAN BE SEEN DURING TRIFOCAL INTRAOCULAR LENS SURGERY

Puncture of the capsule in which our natural lens is located: in this case, the trifocal intraocular lens may not be inserted, as there may be problems with stopping the trifocal intraocular lens in the center after surgery.

Falling parts or all of the Lens into the eye: this is a complication that can be seen in cataract operations. With the intervention of a retinal specialist, the falling lens or part of the lens is removed, and the trifocal intraocular lens may not be placed.
.

BLEEDING: INTRAOCULAR BLEEDING IS CONTROLLED DURING SURGERY

Number in the eye: if the number in the eye remains, it can be corrected with Excimer laser.

Edema in the transparent layer of the eye (cornea): usually it will pass with drops that your ophthalmologist will give, but it can rarely be permanent..

If the lens capsule in which the lens is placed is irregular or torn, the trifocal lens is removed from the inside of the eye, and another monofocal (single-focus) lens is placed in its place in the appropriate position.

High intraocular pressure (glaucoma): a condition that can be seen after intraocular surgery. It causes eye pain. It will usually pass with drops that your doctor will give. It may very rarely require a second intervention.

Eye infection: serious infections can be seen after intraocular surgery, although very rare. It is an important condition, it requires early intervention.

Bleeding: there may be bleeding in the veins in the Iris tissue. It can usually be easily controlled.

Retinal tear/detachment: this is a rare condition after intraocular surgery. It should be intervened by a retinal specialist.

Yellow spot (macular) edema: this is a rare condition after intraocular surgery. It should be intervened by a retinal specialist.
