A CRITICAL REPORT ON AESTHETIC DEATH! IT WAS ACCIDENTALLY INJECTED INTO THE VEIN

The expected report of the Turkish Forensic Medical Institution has reached the court in the lawsuit filed in Istanbul in connection with the death of 38-year-old KB, who died after having a hip filler. In the prepared report, it was explained that the filler injected into K.B. was accidentally injected into the vein, while a foreign body, fat embolism was found in the heart, lungs, kidneys and vein, and death occurred as a result of organ failure.

K.B, 38, who had a hip filling done at a beauty center in Beylikdüzü, Istanbul died on September 2020. At the end of the investigation launched after KB’s death, 4 people were decriminalized, including an unlicensed doctor.

What is it? A new report has been received on the case before the Turkish Criminal Court of First Instance. The report prepared by the Forensic Medicine Institution stated that the application of filler injected into B.K did not comply with the rules of medicine. “If in this case the person needs to be taken to a center where medical diagnosis and treatment can be performed, it is not in accordance with medical rules to be kept in the center by giving sugar and water and then taken home,” the report said, explaining that death occurred as a result of an embolism due to accidental intravenous injection of the injected filler.

INDICTMENT

The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Büyükçekmece Prosecutor General’s Office said that K.B.S received an appointment from the suspect O.E, who introduced himself as M, on July 2020, and that hip filling was performed by the general practitioner O.O, who does not have a specialized education and certificate. On September, K.B, who received an appointment from O.E. again, arrived at 18:00 and left the workplace at 20:20, this time half unconscious, where she was hugged by her legs and put in the incoming car, K.A, who works there, she was told that she was brought home on his arm and handed over to his father.

It was noted that K.B, who was taken to a state public hospital first and then to a private hospital by father E.S, who saw that his daughter had become ill, died the next day. It was stated that the suspects E.D. and O.O. caused death as a result of their conscious actions by injecting the medically inappropriate filler incorrectly into K.B.

The suspects, doctors O.O. and E.D, were sentenced to a total of 5 years to 12 years in prison for ‘knowingly causing death’ and ‘Opposition to the basic law of health services’. Suspect E.D was also asked to be sentenced to 2 years to 5 years in prison in accordance with Article 1219 for treating patients even though he was not a doctor. The other suspects are O.E. and B.B. on the other hand, he was asked to be imprisoned for 1 year to 3 years for the crime of ‘opposition to the Basic Law on Health Services’.

In addition, according to the report of the Board of Inspectors of the Turkish Ministry of Health of general practitioner O.O, in 2009, that many people were again complained of for injecting medically inappropriate substances for aesthetic purposes on grounds that they had been injured, the indictment also contained information.
