JOURNALISTS FROM 31 COUNTRIES MET IN TURKEY FOR ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS
As part of the International Transplant Network Project, 71 journalists from 31 countries came to Turkey for a workshop organized to raise public awareness about organ donation and transplantation
As part of the International Transplant Network (ITN) project, 71 journalists from 31 countries came to Turkey for the Media workshop on organ Donation and Transplantation, which was organized to raise awareness about organ transplantation and donation.
With the support of the Istanbul Development Agency, under the leadership of the Turkish Organ Transplant Foundation (TONV), the University of Health Sciences, the Association of organ transplant coordinators, within the framework of the ITN project, 71 journalists from 31 countries, including Chad, Uganda, Albania, Armenia, Ethiopia, Senegal, Ghana, Bulgaria and Moldova, participated in the workshop, which will end tomorrow at a hotel in Antalya.
On the first day of the program, foreign journalists received information from representatives of the foundation about organ transplantation practices in Turkey and projects aimed at increasing donation rates.
Within the scope of the workshop, presentations will be made by foundation members, academics and journalists with their views on field experiences and media analysis for organ transplantation and donation.
In the workshop, tomorrow, doctors and organ transplant coordinators who are involved in the organ transplant process, as well as people who have been transplanted or donated, will participate. Here, those who get a second chance to live with a transplant, as well as families who donate organs after their loved ones lose their lives, will express their feelings.

MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA HAVE VERY IMPORTANT TASKS

As part of the project, developing and underdeveloped countries have identified their needs for organ donation and transplantation, Turkey Medicals said that they cooperate with countries on infrastructure, training of qualified personnel.
Announcing the work carried out in this area, emphasizing that the media plays an important role in raising social awareness about organ transplantation and donation, was said:
“Especially in order to raise public awareness and encourage organ donation, members of the media have very important tasks. Through foreign journalists participating in the media workshop, we aim to contact the authorities and raise public awareness about the development of organ donation and transplantation in the countries in which we cooperate.”
