TURKEY ANIMAL PROTECTION LAW ADOPTED
According to the latest news, the Parliamentary Commission on Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs adopted a proposal to amend the Animal Protection Law and the Turkish Criminal Code. Animal cruelty, torture, sexual assault and evil those who treat them receive prison sentences. Zoos, dolphin parks, land and water circuses are being closed.
A proposal to amend the law on Animal Protection and the Turkish Criminal Code, signed by AK Party deputies, was adopted by the parliament’s Commission on Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs.
With the accepted proposal, the phrase “ornamental” is removed by amending the article regulating the definitions of the Animal Protection Law. The definition of” pet ” includes animals owned by legal entities as well as natural persons the scope is being expanded.
In the definition of animal hospice, changes are made to establish hospices with permission from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in order to ensure minimum standards in terms of animal health.

Local governments, in cooperation with volunteer organizations, will establish animal hospices for the protection of unclaimed and dis empowered animals, provide their care, treatment and carry out educational work. EXPANDING THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF ANIMAL OWNERS

ADMINISTRATIVE FINES IN TURKEY
The law proposal increases administrative fines in order to ensure better protection of animals, more effectively combat violations against animals, and to ensure deterrence.
