DON’T LET THE BAD BREATH OVERWHELM YOU

You should take some precautions for bad breath, which disturbs both the person and his environment, affects family and social life. You should brush your tongue, use an soft brush and dental floss.

No matter how handsome or beautiful, how beautifully dressed, using expensive perfumes, jewelry, watches, riding in the most beautiful cars, it is a social problem that will multiply all this by zero and reduce the value of all of them to zero in an instant.

Bad breath in many cases bothers you and those around you in the environment you are in. The Turkish Dental Association has deciphered the rate of bad breath, known as halitosis, as between 50 – 65 percent. But does your mouth still smell when you brush your teeth?

Turkey Medicals – here’s what you need to do to prevent bad breath and take the necessary measures.

.
IT AFFECTS SOCIAL LIFE

Bad breath is a social event, and you can’t even get into some people’s rooms. You can’t get within a meter of people with a strong odor from the mouth.

These are situations that destroy family life. First, you should go to the dentist, then to the otolaryngologist, be treated, eliminate all factors that will cause odor.

Since patients with bad breath cannot realize this, the situation should be explained in the appropriate language. He can offend his wife, children, friends at work, where he works. Bad breath affects social life.

Bad breath can lead to domestic unrest, divorces, exclusion from society, even dismissal from work.

Bad breath also affects one’s own business.

A person with a bad breath does not go to a hairdresser, a barber, a doctor. Some types of bad breath, for example, bad breath that occurs in the morning, are considered normal, and usually this condition is not related to any health problems.

There may be bad breath in the morning because the saliva secreted during the day, which destroys food residues and odors in the mouth, decreases when you sleep at night. When the mouth dries, dead cells stick to the inside of the tongue and cheeks. Bacteria use these cells as food and release compounds that emit a tue odor.

.
CLEANING THE MOUTH AND TEETH IS VERY IMPORTANT

The first place among the causes of bad breath is occupied by neglect of oral decency. a study conducted in UK in 2021 found that 90 percent of bad breath is caused by problems in the mouth. Bacteria in the mouth hide and develop on the tongue, between the teeth, on the gums. If the mouth is not cleared of these bacteria, the bacteria can lead to tooth decay.

Tooth decay is also another cause of bad breath in itself. When we eat, foods are naturally broken down by bacteria that live in our mouth. When food is broken down, foul-smelling gases come out. After swallowing what we eat, the food that gets stuck between the teeth begins to deteriorate, and these residues by bacteria also continue to decays.

If dental cleaning is not paid attention to, food residues in the teeth will start the process that extends to bad breath. If a proper oral cleaning is performed, all sources of bad breath in the mouth are blocked.

Brushing your teeth may not be enough to prevent bad breath. In addition to the teeth, the gums and, most importantly, the tongue must also be brushed.

.
YOU SHOULD ALSO BRUSH YOUR TONGUE

It is also useful to use dental floss to clean teeth from food debris. About 90 percent of the bad breath is caused by bacteria on the tongue.

Using mouthwash for oral cleaning other than brushing your teeth helps both destroy bacteria and freshen your breath.

In the use of prostheses, if the cleaning of the prosthesis is not paid attention to, the risk of bad breath is high. In addition, if the prosthesis does not fit snugly into the mouth, there is also a higher probability that food will be inserted.

.
DENTURES THAT ARE NOT CLEANED SMELL

Dental problems cause bad breath and lead to an even worse smell.

1- Caries, abscesses, gingivitis, hard-to-clean gum pockets on the teeth are common causes of bad breath.

Hard-to-clean locations between the teeth, which occur due to bone loss, can cause a very bad smell.

2- Gum pockets that cause food accumulation around a half-worn, buried 20-year-old tooth.

3- Six bridges that cannot be cleaned easily, coatings that have not been renewed for years, and their compatibility with the gums is impaired are also among the sources of odor due to nutrient accumulation and decaying.

Removable dentures with uneven surfaces that are incompatible, not cleaned, or have food accumulation also smell due to food residues. In such cases, caries should be cleaned, gum treatment should be performed, problematic 20-year-old teeth should be pulled out.

It’s not just a toothbrush; there are a lot of people who are reluctant to use soft brushes. For cleaning areas that are difficult to decontaminate, special manufactured interface brushes should be preferred. During the bridge cleaning, decontamination brushes and dental floss manufactured for bridges should be used again, and old bridges should be renewed as soon as possible.

.
THE LACK OF TEETH ALSO MAKES THE SMELL

Teeth are cleaned naturally by the cheek and tongue when chewing food.

In cases where there is a lack of teeth, there is a more intense accumulation of food on the opposite and side teeth, since there will also be no chewing on the side where there is no tooth.

If the mouth is dry, a smell may appear in the mouth.

Water; It should be drunk frequently and abundantly Again salivary gland diseases that cause dry mouth, vitamin deficiency, menopause, diabetes and various anti-depressant drugs also cause saliva to decrease. With a decrease in saliva, the self-cleaning mechanism of the mouth disappears and bad breath occurs.

.
HARBINGER OF VARIOUS DISEASES

Among the ailments that cause bad breath, there are also diseases of the respiratory tract, digestive tract, kidneys and diabetes. In patients with chronic kidney disease, there is a smell similar to the smell of fish, which is formed due to ammonia and nitrogen in the saliva. An acetone-like odor is present in diabetics, especially during periods of high sugar, the odor increases.

In addition, patients with bronchial and lung infections, lung abscesses, and COPD also have bad breath.

.
HAVING A POCKET IN THE DIGESTIVE TUBE MAKES THE SMELL

Although it is very rare, a pocket has formed at the entrance of the digestive tract in some people. Food coming to this area cannot get out of here and it will stink over time, causing bad breath. If the solution is not reached as a result of all oral treatments, treatments or health examinations, this situation should also be taken into account.

Respiratory disorders can also cause bad breath. Sinusitis, inflammation of the nose can also cause nasal discharge and cause bad breath.

.
CAN BAD BREATH BE A SIGN OF CANCER?

In particular, ulcers and stomach cancer can disrupt the movements of the stomach, preventing proper digestion of food. Indigestible food stays in the stomach and stinks, and this smell that occurs can reach the mouth. Again, an ulceration that occurs in the intestine, or even a narrowing or blockage that can occur in the intestines due to cancer, causes food pulp to remain in the intestine and form gases.
