8 KNOWN WRONG ABOUT IVF TREATMENT IN TURKEY HOSPITALS

Today, thanks to advances in medicine and technology, the success rates of methods that give hope to couples who cannot have children in normal ways are increasing. One of the most commonly used methods in this regard is IVF treatment. But although IVF treatment is a method that is widely used in our country, couples are known to have a lot of false information about this issue. So what is this misinformation? Turkish Obstetrics and IVF Specialist Prof. Doctor, for couples who want to have children with IVF treatment in Turkey, evaluated 8 false information known correctly and told the truth.

Experts say that couples have a lot of false information about Antalya Turkey IVF baby treatment, which is an important method for couples who either do not have or have little chance of having children in normal ways. This both makes patients despairing and can prevent them from finding a solution.

Turkey Medicals member Health Group Chairman Obstetrics and IVF Specialist Prof. Dr. gave information that could be a guide for our readers.

IVF treatment is a treatment that should be applied as a” last resort”.

FALSE. The need for Turkey IVF treatment varies depending on the patient. Answer to the question of when to start IVF treatment should be evaluated and decided according to the condition of the patient or couple applying to the clinic for the purpose of having children. Since success in treatment is directly proportional to the age of the woman, it is the first option that a 38-or 40-year-old patient can consider. Given this age group, the time they will wait is seen as a waste of time, perhaps after a few years they may completely lose their ability to have children. Sperm is taken from the ovaries (testicles) if the sperm count is too low or if sperm does not come out of the semen when the male is taken. If a solution is not reached with medical treatments, surgical intervention can be resorted to. In such a case, IVF is the first treatment option.

In vitro fertilization treatment does not get pregnant at the first attempt.

FALSE. It is possible that a couple who are scheduled for IVF treatment can conceive on their first attempt. In a successful Center, pregnancy occurs in one of the two couples undergoing treatment. However, when viewed individually, conception rates vary according to many different reasons, especially women’s age. Some patients need more than one treatment to achieve success, while some patients can achieve success on the first attempt.

IVF treatment is an expensive treatment in Turkey.

FALSE. The cost of IVF treatments may not seem like a cheap treatment compared to the annual income of a family at the average income level in our country. But unfortunately, when our couples turn to alternative ways and methods that are relatively low in cost, but also have a low chance of success, they often lose much more time, money, and trust. In addition, it can be easily said that the cost of IVF treatments offered in our country is quite affordable compared to abroad. For example, compared to the standard IVF treatment fee offered in the United States today and the treatment fee offered in our country, it is possible for candidate couples to perform 2 or 3 trials in our country instead of a treatment fee in the United States.

In couples who cannot have children, the problem is always caused by women.

FALSE. Perhaps one of the most commonly known mistakes about IVF treatments is that the problem of not having children is largely caused by women. Statistics obtained in institutions where IVF services are offered both in our country and around the world show that the problem is evenly distributed between men and women (50% -50%). However, in about 30-40% of couples applying for treatment, the problem can be caused by both individuals. At this stage, it is important to find out where the problem is caused, not from whom, and to develop appropriate treatment options to solve this problem.

There is no risk of miscarriage in IVF treatment.

FALSE. Currently, our knowledge and experience in the field of reproductive health can help us greatly in diagnosis and treatment, but it is not possible to provide enough benefit to completely solve the problem in couples who still want to have children, but have problems in this regard, with recurrent miscarriages. Genetic, anatomical, immunological and many more unknown causes can lie beneath miscarriages. Although a significant part of miscarriages can be prevented thanks to our existing knowledge and technology, IVF treatments cannot completely eliminate the risks that may occur in this regard. In patients with recurrent miscarriages, it is important to do good research and draw a path associated with it.

A man without sperm can’t be a father.

FALSE. Developing technology now gives men who have no sperm cells due to various reasons the opportunity to become fathers. In order to clearly determine the number of Sperm, we recommend that sperm analysis be performed. It is possible to obtain sperm by surgery from patients who have observed sperm production in their ovaries with a microscopic operation called” micro-TESE”. Micro-TESE operation is the only solution for men with sperm production disorders and who cannot be treated with medication to have children today. Because in this way, sperm that can be obtained from testicular tissues can be transferred to the eggs of their partners through microinjection, ensuring successful embryo development and pregnancy. However, there are currently no other treatment methods in men who have no sperm cells found in the ovarian tissue after surgery.

Today’s technology gives even men who don’t have any sperm cells a chance to become fathers.

Drugs taken in IVF treatment gain weight.

FALSE. The dose of the drug used in IVF treatments varies according to the woman’s ovarian reserve and the number of eggs desired to be obtained. In vitro fertilization does not necessarily mean a large number and high dose of medication. Thanks to developing medical technology, the effectiveness of drugs used in IVF treatment has been significantly increased, and possible side effects have been reduced to a minimum.

The success of the frozen embryo is low.

FALSE. The success achieved after transferring frozen embryos to the womb is at least as high as the success achieved with fresh embryos. In fact, observations and results obtained by us and other respected centers around the world show that the chances of pregnancy with a frozen embryo are higher. For this reason, higher success can be achieved by freezing and storing embryos in suitable pairs after they are created and by transplanting them in natural womb conditions at a later period.
