HOW IS IVF TREATED IN TURKEY?

During IVF in Antalya and Istanbul hospital treatments, the mature eggs are collected (taken) from the ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a laboratory. The fertilized egg (embryo) or eggs are then transferred to the womb. A full IVF cycle lasts about three weeks. Sometimes these steps are broken into different parts, and the process can take longer. The treatment process proceeds as described below:

  • A single egg is formed every month in women who have regular menstruation. But this number is intended to increase with hormone drugs given externally in the treatment of IVF in Turkey.
    .
  • Although there are different procedures in each treatment, two parallel hormone treatments are performed, which mainly provide egg development and prevent early ovulation. These are ultrasound and blood tests.
    .
  • Eggs reaching maturity are collected by aspiration method by making a cracking needle and fertilized by sperm taken from the male in the laboratory environment. Egg collection can be done under general anesthesia, as well as under sedation and local anesthesia.
    .
  • This fertilization process can be achieved by juxtaposing sperm and eggs in the classic IVF method, as well as by injecting each sperm into a single egg under a high-magnification microscope, called micro-injection.
    .
  • Fertilized eggs are left to develop in heat and atmosphere controlled culture environments in the laboratory for 2 to 3 days or, in some cases, 5 to 6 days, and at the end of this period, the best developing embryos are selected and placed back into the uterus.
    .
  • Determination of the number of embryos to be transferred after determining the quality of the embryo, taking into account the chances of pregnancy and the risk of multiple pregnancies, the number to be transferred is discussed in detail before transfer. There is no need for anesthesia and sedation, except in very rare cases in the embryo transfer process.
