HOW IS IVF TREATMENT PERFORMED IN ANTALYA?

IVF in Antalya basically consists of 7 Stages. This treatment, which is usually carried out throughout the world through the same functioning, can be shaped according to the additional procedures required.

IVF stages can be listed as follows:

1- pre-cycle preparation: after the decision to apply IVF treatment has been made, an interview should be held to discuss the diagnosis of infertility and develop a treatment plan. At this time, various tests and fertility drugs that will be needed before IVF should also be determined. Medications that patients can take usually include birth control pills, oral contraceptives, injectable hormone medications, which are started in the month before the treatment cycle. These drugs prepare the female body for ovulation induction or the release of eggs from the ovaries.

2- ovulation induction: this stage is the process of using a fertility drug to allow a woman to ovulate or produce more than one mature egg. It is important to obtain as many healthy egg cells as possible for IVF. During ovulation induction, the woman’s hormone levels should be measured regularly, ultrasound imaging and blood tests should be performed. Since ovulation occurs about 40 hours after hCG injection, the timing of this injection is quite important.

3- egg collection: the procedure for removing eggs is a surgical procedure and sedative drugs should be given so that the patient does not feel pain. At this time, if any medication is available, it should be reported to the doctor. The woman preparing for the procedure is asked to lie down on the examination table. The vagina is washed with a sterile solution of water. A needle tube necessary for the collection of eggs is passed through the vaginal tract and delivered to the ovaries. The follicles, accompanied by ultrasound guidance, are taken from the eggs and sent to the IVF laboratory. The entire procedure takes about 30 minutes and the patient is kept under observation until the effect of anesthesia passes. If egg intake cannot be performed, the necessary procedures for egg donation can be performed.

4- sperm collection: on the day when eggs are taken, a sperm sample should also be taken from a man through masturbation. If Sperm cannot be obtained, biopsy procedures applied to the testicle, such as micro-TESE or TESA, may be required. Before taking a Sperm sample, it is requested not to engage in any sexual activity for 3 days. If the necessary sperm cannot be provided, sperm donation can be applied.

5- fertilization: the most important stage in the cycle; IVF will take place in the laboratory of the center. Egg and sperm samples are placed in the tube for fertilization and are regularly observed. If the ability of Sperm cells to fertilize is not sufficient, the microinjection (ICSI) procedure performed by injecting sperm cells into each egg cell should be preferred. Fertilization will begin within a few hours when the Sperm enters the egg. Fertilized cells grow by dividing into 8 cells within 3 days and up to 100 cells within 5-6 days. Embryos that are observed to develop at a sufficient level are prepared for the transfer process. In order to determine the health status of the embryos in the clearest way possible, the PGD procedure  can also be applied.

6- embryo transfer: the Transfer process takes place 2 to 7 days after egg intake. How many embryos and which ones to transfer should be decided by the embryologist. Before the procedure, the woman is prepared, but anesthesia is not applied because the procedure is painless. A catheter is sent into the vagina, which is opened with the help of the speculum, where the embryos are placed. With the help of a catheter, which is advanced to the uterus accompanied by ultrasound, the embryos are released and the process is completed. If the remaining healthy embryos are available, the embryo freezing process may be preferred.

7- pregnancy test: 12 after the Transfer process. a pregnancy test can be performed by blood per day to find out the outcome of IVF treatment.
