THE MINISTER ANNOUNCED THE INSTITUTION! THE DEPOSIT REFUND APPLICATION STARTS AFTER 2 MONTHS

Turkey Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, standing next to the oppressed and the victim, said that they will make Turkey the most important actor in the fight against global climate change. The Minister said, “We are establishing the deposit management system with our Turkish Environment Agency. We are preparing our online central data system and internet-connected deposit return machines. We will launch the application as of January 2022,” he said.

The institution made a presentation on the budget of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and its affiliated and related organizations for the year 2022 at the Turkish Parliament’s Plan and Budget Commission. Minister of Environment started his speech by reminding that tomorrow is the anniversary of the November 12th Düzce earthquake and wishing mercy from Allah to the citizens who lost their lives in earthquakes and disasters in Turkey.

The institution emphasized that 2021 is a year of unprecedented floods and landslides in Turkey and the world due to the climate crisis, unusual fires, and despite all these negativity and pandemic conditions, they have implemented projects and investments that will add value to cities, nature, and the environment.

According to the Institution, research has been conducted at the University on how climate change will affect the main cities of the world by 2050, he said that if average air temperatures continue in this way, Istanbul will resemble Antalya, Izmir and Bursa will resemble Adana.

THE SUCCESS OF REDUCING NATIONAL EMISSIONS

Noting that the number of meteorological disasters that occurred in Turkey in the 2000s has increased 3 times compared to the 1960s and 9 times in terms of economic losses, the Institution said, “We believe that a just world is possible, a world in which climate justice will prevail. Despite the fact that our country has no historical responsibility, we have been resolutely fulfilling our duties in the fight against climate change for 20 years, using ecologically based and scientific methods. our success in reducing national emissions for 2018 and 2019 is a very important result in the fight against climate change.” he used his statements.

Institution, Ministry of energy, industry, agriculture, forestry, construction, transportation, waste and climate change issues climate change adaptation strategy and Action Plan National Action, which is a separate 541 81 provinces was carried out in said pointing out:

“In order to minimize our land loss, we have implemented our National Strategy and Action Plan to Combat Desertification. We are installing the ‘Decision Support System’ in order to prevent land destruction. With the National Land Cover / Use Classification and Monitoring System Project, we monitor land use changes from forest areas to natural areas, from agricultural areas to wetlands monthly. Thus, we also take all necessary measures to prevent possible damage to all our lands. With our Zero Waste Project, we have spread the concept of recycling in our country. Today, our institutions are conducting innovation studies on the production of alternative raw materials that will completely eliminate plastic. We implement our saving-oriented smart city applications, install solar energy systems in all the buildings we build, and produce buildings that do not waste energy and have strong insulation.”

“We will make Turkey the most important actor in the fight against global climate change”

Recalling that, as a country, extremely rigorous climate diplomacy is carried out on every international platform, and the Paris Climate Agreement has been ratified in Parliament, the institution said:

“I would like to thank our deputies who took this historic decision very much. we have not been a party to the Paris Climate Agreement, which we signed in 2015, for 5 main reasons. These were the absence of clear commitments in the agreement, the lack of clear timelines, the failure to take concrete steps to measure the goals, the injustices in financing. The most important thing was that our interlocutors could not adequately see the fact that the Paris Agreement could not work without Turkey. As a country, we have conducted an effective and constructive climate diplomacy with all parties to solve all these uncertainties and injustices. We have made significant progress towards solving this injustice that has been applied against our country. As a result, we became a party to the Paris Agreement with the achievements based on the interests of our country: As a country, we consider the Paris Climate Agreement to be an important milestone for achieving our green development goal.”

For this reason, the institution held its 26th annual event in Glasgow, Italy. Explaining that they held important talks and consultations with more than 40 side events at the Conference of the Parties (COP26), he said: “Under the leadership of our President, with our belief that a fairer world is possible, we will make Turkey the most important actor in the fight against global climate change by standing by the oppressed and the victim. Within this framework, we have entered into a strategic planning process that supports a sustainable, green economy and green technologies. Well the green technology is a strategic planning process that supports sustainable, green economy and green technologies. In the Climate Council that we will organize, we are also launching a consultation process on a wide range of topics, from the emissions trading system to green investments, and that concerns all of our sectors.” he said.

The Minister also touched upon the work carried out within the scope of the mobilization to save the Sea of Marmara from musilage, stating that the Ministry has been following the musilage issue meticulously since the first moment it was raised.

Pointing out that another negative result of climate change is seen especially with the floods in the Black Sea Region, the Institution said, “We completed our search and rescue activities and damage detection studies in all our flood-affected areas as possible. We have not victimized any of our citizens in this process. We did our rent, belongings and moving assistance without interruption. We have completely renovated the infrastructure of our cities. Today, we are rapidly building 2 thousand 248 residential buildings, 220 village houses, 132 business places and 5 tea houses in Rize, Giresun, Kastamonu, Sinop and Bartın.” said.

“We are building a total of 1423 houses and 730 barns in Antalya and Muğla”

Recalling that forest fires have occurred all over Turkey, especially in Antalya and Muğla, the institution said: “We have renovated the infrastructure of our villages. we build our village houses of 2 + 1, 3 + 1 sizes together with our barn, warehouse, mosques, schools in accordance with the local architecture in its own place. We are building a total of 1423 houses and 730 barns in Antalya and Muğla.” he gave information.

Emphasizing that they will deliver the houses that were built after the floods and fires to the citizens within 1 year, the Institution said, “As a state, we have conducted the most comprehensive, most successful disaster management and mobilization process in disasters such as floods, landslides, fires that we have experienced in recent years. We have never confronted our citizen with the bad and desperate landscape encountered after the disasters experienced in America, England and France in the last year. We have brought the lives of our citizens back to normal as soon as possible.” he made his assessment.

Referring to the Zero Waste in Turkey Project launched of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Minister also noted that:

“We don’t see the Zero Waste Project as just a waste and recycling project. Today, our Zero Waste Project has become an international project that crosses borders with the international awards it has received. So far, we have installed and are implementing the zero waste system in our 116 thousand institution buildings. we have brought 24.2 million tons of waste to our economy. we have prevented the release of 3 million tons of greenhouse gases. we saved 265 million trees. We have increased our recovery rate from 13 percent to 22.4 percent. we have achieved an economic gain of 30 billion TL. Hopefully, at this rate, we will increase the recycling rate of waste to 30 percent in 2023. We have reduced the use of plastic bags by 75 percent in our country. Thus, we prevented the formation of 354 thousand tons of plastic waste originating from bags. We are establishing a deposit management system with the Turkish Environment Agency. We are preparing our online central data system and internet-connected deposit return machines. We will launch the application as of January 2022. We will provide employment to tens of thousands of our citizens with an annual contribution of 4 billion TL to our economy.”
