IF MORE THAN HALF OF THEM ARE TAKEN THE PROBLEM IS GREAT

Sometimes organs can lose their function for different reasons and some or all of them are surgically removed. So which organs are our ‘sine qua non’ or in the absence of which we can continue our life in some way? Prof. Dr. clarified the issue.

Sometimes in a disease such as cancer, sometimes some organs can be surgically removed for reasons such as damage to human health or loss of function. These organs are sometimes partially, sometimes completely taken out of the body, and their deficiencies can be eliminated with external supplements. So what organs can a person survive in the absence of, or what do they need?

ISU University Faculty of Medicine Faculty Member and Gastroenterology Surgery and Surgical Oncology Specialist Prof. Dr. answers the question marks in the mind.

Sometimes it is necessary to remove part or all of his organs in order to survive. But although the absence of some organs at all takes away the comfort in human life, it is possible to maintain life with medicines and some special devices. Gastroenterology Surgery and Surgical Oncology Specialist Prof. Dr., by evaluating the organs in the chest and abdomen one by one, explaining which ones life is possible without. Prof. Dr., touched on organ deficiencies that may have different effects in each age group.

.
STOMACH

The first organ without which life can be maintained is the stomach. Prof. Dr. he shared a little-known information about the stomach with the following words:

“The stomach is a very important organ in the digestive system, but removing part of it does not lead to a serious problem. But serious problems may develop in patients whose stomach is completely removed, as the absorption of some important minerals is impaired. Bone resorption may occur, especially in women, as calcium absorption will decrease. These people lose weight very quickly. In patients whose stomach is completely removed, it can be corrected with calcium and vitamin D and external supplements. Anemia may also develop due to vitamin B12 deficiency. Of course, these are also reinforced from the outside.”

.
PANCREAS

Complete removal of the pancreas is also not incompatible with life. The diabetes that occurs in these people can be corrected by giving insulin from the outside. External insulin intake, which is common in diabetics, is also a necessary practice in cases where the pancreas does not work or is not in the body. When the pancreas is completely and sometimes partially removed, there may be conditions such as fatty diarrhea, indigestion and bloating in patients due to a lack of digestive enzymes, Prof. Dr. said that enzyme support should be taken from outside in such cases.

.
GALLBLADDER

The gallbladder is the organ where bile secretion is stored. Prof. Dr. he noted that the gallbladder is not a vital organ, and its absence will not cause a problem, except that gastritis and reflux may develop in the stomach.

.
KIDNEY

Dialysis treatment is applied to patients whose kidneys have lost their function. In the absence of kidneys, one of the most commonly transplanted organs, people can also survive with dialysis. Prof. Dr. he clarified this situation with the words, “When both kidneys are removed, a person’s comfort of life decreases due to dialysis, but he can continue his life”.

.
SPLEEN

The topic of how taking the spleen out of the body can have effects on health has been a topic of curiosity, especially on social media. Referring to how human life will be shaped in the absence of the spleen, Prof. Dr., noting that for some age groups, a lack of a spleen can cause major problems, he said:

“The spleen is very important in babies and children. There may be some problems when it is received. This organ plays a serious role in the immune system. It also allows the destruction of worn-out red blood cells in the blood. As we get older, the spleen shrinks over time and does not play as active a role as in young people. It is necessary to protect the spleen especially in children and infants.

At this age, within two years from the removal of the spleen, a germ called ‘sepsis’ can form in the blood and damage other organs, pneumonia, meningitis, such problems can be seen very often. Vaccines are available for the prevention of these diseases. In addition, protective antibiotic therapy may also be prescribed. So we can protect every age group in this way.”

English name ‘liver’ which derives from the word ‘to live’ is also among the vital organs: heart, lung, liver. There is also a liver. Stating that the liver is an excellent organ, Prof. Dr. “The liver is one of the self-renewing organs in the human body, and although 3 out of 4 are surgically removed, it almost reaches its former volume within 1 month,” he said.

.
SMALL INTESTINE

Although a person can live without a large intestine, this is not possible without a small intestine. Prof. Dr. said the following about the small intestines:

“The small intestine is one of our most important organs. Because it is associated with digestion, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, fats and minerals are absorbed here, and a person cannot live if adequate absorption cannot be achieved as a result of food intake. Therefore, the intestine should have a certain length. For example, if more than 50 percent is taken, there will be serious problems. This condition can cause rapid weight loss due to malnutrition, inability to gain weight, persistent diarrhea, kidney stones and insufficiency.”

.
HERE IS THE RECIPE THAT PROTECTS VITAL ORGANS FOR A LIFETIME

Prof. who also drew attention to a few important tricks related to the protection of vital organs and the extension of a healthy life span. Dr., the rules that everyone should pay attention to for a healthy life, “Everything is in our hands except the things that come from our genes.

The main measures that everyone should take to protect our organs are not to stand in environments with polluted air, not to consume tobacco products and alcohol, and definitely to move. Smoking can cause serious problems in organs such as the lungs, heart and pancreas.
.

As for the liver, it is necessary to stay away from alcohol, to resort to treatment in case of fat loss, to protect against hepatitis, not to use herbal-based medicines that we do not know the contents of.

.
We should also not use painkillers irregularly. Unconscious antibiotics should also not be used. Plenty of water should also be consumed for the kidneys. Acting for the health of all organs should not be neglected, harmful habits should be avoided and importance should be given to natural nutrition and weight control,” he summed up with the words.

Wishing you healthy days…
