FOODS THAT MAKE US HAVE NIGHTMARE
According to a sleep study published in Frontiers in Psychology, the food we eat can cause bad dreams and restless nights.
By examining data from 440 students from a University in Canada, the study’s researchers found that certain foods had an effect on sleep patterns, ailments and dreams.
According to data from the study, there are certain foods that trigger strange or disturbing dreams, and these foods are consumed more widely than we think.
Another study involving 81 healthy participants also revealed an association between food intake in the evening and sleep quality.
.
ALCOHOL TOPS THE LIST
- Alcohol, although not technically a food, can negatively affect your sleep, interfering with REM sleep, which is the most vivid dream, and this intervention can cause nightmares.
.
DAIRY PRODUCTS AND SUGAR CONSUMED IN THE EVENING
- Research by Frontiers in Psychology found that about 47% of participants had uncomfortable dreams after consuming dairy products. The study also suggests that foods high in sugar can cause strange dreams. Almost 33% of participants with sleep problems reported eating cookies or cakes before bedtime.
.
TURKISH SPICY FOODS AND SALTY SNACKS
Researchers also warn of spicy ingredients such as hot pepper, jalapeno and Acı sosu sauce. The heat of the Spice increases the body’s temperature, which can affect the brain’s activity, causing bizarre dreams or nightmares, a study suggests.
- It has been shown that choosing saltier foods and consuming cookies or chips can affect not only dreams, but also the digestive system.
