STOMACH SURGERIES, WEIGHT LOSS PROCESS AND AESTHETIC NEEDS

Turkey Medicals Co-ordinator, “Sedentary life, that is, a lifestyle without physical activity, can cause weight gain.”

With rise of advanced weight gain, obesity and related diseases, ‘morbid obesity’ is becoming widespread. Due to these, gastric balloon procedures and stomach reduction surgeries have also become common. At the end of this whole process, sagging and deformities can be seen all over the body due to serious weight loss. In order to get rid of them, the need for aesthetic surgery is also on the agenda.

1- Serious deformations after weight loss

Although controlled and slow weight loss is planned, there may be serious skin sagging, looseness and deformities in this process. The most affected area is usually the breast and abdominal area. Sagging in the abdomen can continue even to the entire region, back, waist and butt.

2- When should aesthetic procedures be performed?

After stomach surgeries im Turkey, most patients achieve serious weight loss in an average of 6 months and immediately request aesthetic procedures. However, before aesthetic procedures, the weight loss process should be controlled and slow, and the target weight should be reached. If the target weight is reached and remains constant at this weight for 6 months, then aesthetic procedures can be planned.

3- Plastic surgery planning outside the standards

Aesthetic surgery should be planned specifically for the person and problems. Since the abdominal region is the center of the torso, it is recommended to start here.

Breast aesthetics can be planned afterwards, arm and leg aesthetics in the third place. All this is usually done in more than one session. Although standard “tummy tuck-abdominoplasty” can be planned in abdominal aesthetics for some patients, “T scar Fleur DeLis Abdominoplasty” can be selected to achieve a tight abdomen and lumbar curve in another group of patients.

“360 degree abdominoplasty” may be preferred for those who have advanced looseness in the waist area and low butt. “Back stretching and abdominoplasty” can be planned at the same time for patients who also have severe laxity after the reduction of back bagels. “Breast lift and abdominoplasty” can also be performed at the same time for patients whose sagging is at the forefront of the front of the torso.

4- Silicone reinforcement

When it comes to serious weight loss, breast volume decreases a lot. A breast lift is required in combination with silicone to correct the existing looseness, but also to provide volume. However, there are points that need to be taken into account for good results.

In this group of patients, breast silicones with a “wider base and less projection” can be selected. “Fat injection” can also be planned for the degage area, where fullness cannot be achieved despite silicones. If there is a looseness that affects not only the breast, but also the upper region, the procedure may also be required for the tightness of the sides of the breasts.

5- Waist stretching and straightening at the same time

Despite losing weight in the waist area, resistant fats may remain. When planning a waist lift in these patients, a “fat tissue flap” may be preferred, which allows the transfer of fat in the waist area to the buttocks as tissue. In this way, the waist curve is deepened, butt erect is provided and the butt volume is increased safely.

6- Important points before surgery

“Anemia-anemia” is frequently observed in patients who lose weight after gastric surgery. Again, trace element and vitamin deficiencies are also observed in these patients. In order to contribute to recovery, supplemental medications can be started in patients who need it. The patient should persistently avoid calorie restriction to continue losing weight, follow protein-rich diets.

7- The healing process is more difficult and longer

The recovery of patients who are scheduled for post-bariatric surgery is more difficult and longer than other patient groups.

Therefore, a longer rest should be planned. Tobacco products should never be allowed. You need to follow the doctor more closely.

Summarize…

It is natural to have aesthetic demands after losing weight. However, there should be no fluctuation in weight gain and loss. Since each session is very valuable, the right surgical combinations should be planned individually. When all precautions are taken and scientific recommendations are fulfilled to reduce the risks, a more comfortable and beautiful life can be started in a healthy way.

Note…

Of course, it is necessary to consult a doctor for all these procedures. It is important to know the risks and make decisions accordingly. It is necessary to pay attention to the fact that the hospital or practice where the procedure will be performed is approved by the  Ministry of Health in Turkey.
