A FIRST IN TURKEY! DURING THE 6-HOUR OPERATION, WHICH WAS PERFORMED BY TALKING TO THE PATIENT, 8 ORGANS WERE REMOVED

CT (52), a cancer patient in Antalya, had 8 organs removed in 6 hours in an operation performed without being put to sleep. The operation, which was performed by talking to the patient at Antalya Education and Research Hospital, is the first in Turkey.

The Doctor in Charge of the General Surgery and Organ Transplantation Center of Antalya Training and Research Hospital, who performed the operation together with his team, is Assoc. Dr. stated that CT, who was diagnosed with colon cancer 2 years ago, stayed away from the operation due to fear and applied to the emergency department of the hospital while his disease was progressing. CT, who was brought to the emergency room with severe abdominal pain and general condition disorder, stated that it was found that the tumor had spread to the right side of the duodenum, pancreas and liver in the examinations and tests of Assoc. Dr. “We decided to remove the organs from which the tumor has spread with spinal high epidural anesthesia without giving the patient general anesthesia, by working as a serious team with our anesthesia doctors because of the patient’s anxiety about surgery and systemic diseases,” doctor said.

IT WAS THE FIRST IN TURKEY

Surgery, put to sleep, who discussed with the patient and the pancreas, duodenum, bile duct, the right side of the liver, the spleen, appendix, large intestine 3 in 2%, 3 stomach in 2% and about removing the lymph nodes surrounding these organs Doc. Dr. said that each of these organs is a large operation that is entered for patients separately. emphasizing that they performed operations on 8 separate patients in one patient, Dr. noted that the operation lasting 6 hours was also special for them and said, “We have performed many operations with spinal anesthesia before, but such a large surgery was the first in Turkey.”

.
WE PERFORMED THE SURGERY TALKING AND PAINLESSLY WHILE THE PATIENT WAS AWAKE

Assoc., who describes his anxiety as a Turkish surgeon when entering surgery. Dr. “Our concern was to say, ‘I wonder if the patient will feel pain, even if it is small,” Dr. said. With excellent work discipline with our team, we performed this operation while the patient was awake, talking and painlessly. We had to be in a race against time in surgery because spinal anesthesia is a method applied in short-term surgeries,” he said.

Assoc. who noted that there is a preparatory period of 2-3 days before the operation. Dr. “In addition to our anesthesiologists, we have also determined a road map with our radiology team about which organs are connected to the tumor, which vessels are close to the tumor. We applied our preoperative plan during the operation without any surprise and it was a successful result. Our patient is fine,” he said.

.
I CAME TO MY SENSES ON THE 4TH DAY

As a surgeon, they have been able to undergo hundreds of surgeries to date and sometimes stay in surgery for 24 hours, Assoc. Dr. said, “In long-term cases, we also do our own preparation as surgeons. In order to carry out the operation comfortably, we enter by taking varicose socks and blood thinners because we remain motionless during the operation, but my brain and body fatigue continued for almost 3 days after I got out of this patient’s surgery. i was able to come to my senses on the 4th day, but all this fatigue, an operation that ended with recovery, was finally over,” he said.

.
IT IS ALSO A COMFORTABLE METHOD FOR THE PATIENT

Anesthesiologist Dr. when they evaluated the patient, they thought that spinal high epidural anesthesia, which will lead to less trauma, may be appropriate, said that this large-scale operation is also the first for him in his 42-year professional life.

Anesthesiologist Dr. applied to the patient and to the good combined spinal and epidural anesthesia, intensive care after surgery in patients with severe heart and lung diseases or received when the output of the blocking reduces the duration of ICU stay, noting that “the ventilator is not connected to the patient, because a very comfortable post-operative period is going through, and this we are able to get patients the right service. As a result of this, the discharge time becomes very short. It’s a comfortable method,” he said.

.
THE DOCTORS SPOKE TO ME IN THE SURGERY, I JUST HEARD VOICES

CT, who does construction work in Antalya, stated that he was diagnosed with colon cancer 2 years ago, and said that he remembers the operation from the moment he was taken to the operating room on a stretcher, and said, “The teachers were talking to me during the operation. I felt no pain and no pain. I just heard what sounded like a growl,” he said.

Explaining that he was not afraid when he entered the surgery, CT said, “I just need to get rid of my pain now. No matter what, I went into surgery. I left it to Allah and trusted my teachers. I put the fear aside,” he said.

CT said that the diagnosis of his disease was made about 2 years ago, but he delayed the operation for 1 year, “Eventually the tumor grew and became like this. I was very bad when I was brought to the emergency room. I’ve been operated on. In fact, I didn’t consider myself very lucky either because it was an operation that I delayed. Thank god. I’m fine at the moment,” he said.

Thanking the doctors who restored his health, CT said, “I was the first patient in Turkey to be operated on in this way, it was said so. This have been bestowed on me. I thank everyone; I thank my doctors, the state, everyone who has done their work,” he said.

EG a relative of the patient, also thanked the entire team and the hospital staff.
