Eskisehir Forest Regional Directorate has been working hard for 3 years to grow medicinal and aromatic plants started to give results. Medicinal and valuable plants, many of which are naturally found in woodlands, were cultured in medicinal plant gardens and nurseries. Plants have come to be planted and planted in honey forests, income-generating afforestation sites. Forest villagers who want to grow medicinal plants will be given technical and seed support.

A protocol was made with Eskisehir Osmangazi University and the forces of the two institutions were united. 20 decars in the University, 42 decars in Eskisehir Forest Nursery, including 62 decars of medicinal plant garden was established. 56 species were studied, of which 20 species were further concentrated. Medicinal and aromatic plants such as Sage, balm, lavender, echinacea, yellow cantaron, zufa grass, coriander, medicinal chamomile were also planted, as well as groups of shrubs such as Hawthorn, Ahlat, Rowan, cranberry, jujube and Linden.

Thanks to these plants planted in honey forests, honey production is increased.

RAW MATERIAL OF INDUSTRY

Dr. Duran Qatar, Nursery Manager and Eskisehir Forest Regional Manager, the forest is not only composed of trees, stating, “medicinal and aromatic plant cultivation is increasing and promising high income. We want our forest villagers to do it. We have brought Eskisehir and Afyonkarahisar provinces to a central state. We also plant these plants in honey forests. We aim to increase honey production with the species that beekeepers want, the flowering time is long,” he said.

It is used in many different industries, mainly plants, pharmaceutical and cosmetic raw materials.
