ATTENTION DEFICIT AND HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER (ADHD)

Turkey Medicals member and hospital department Turkish Expert Psychologist gave the details:

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), which is a neurodevelopmental disorder, is a persistent psychiatric disorder that begins in childhood and continues to have effects in adolescence and adulthood. It can be accompanied by a picture in which distraction, excessive mobility and/or excessive impulsivity predominate. Foundations in early childhood attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder in adulthood, with less intensity as symptomatic; however, low comorbidity with daily functionality and can watch together.
.

First, the symptoms of an individual with ADHD become noticeable when they start school. Children who cannot sit during the class hour, have intense problems with their peers, and experience delays in learning activities compared to the majority of their peers can be guided by teachers to be quickly noticed and get help.

.
In other words, the dominant symptom is that if there is excessive mobility, it is noticed much earlier by family and educators. However, situations where impulsivity is less experienced and the symptoms related to distraction are in the lead can be overlooked.

With age, the appearance of a decrease in risky behavior that is done impulsively without thinking, or a decrease in excessive mobility does not indicate that the disease has completely passed. ADHD is a disease that can be treated and, if left untreated, significantly reduces a person’s quality of life.
.

The sooner it is resorted to, the higher the success rate for treatment can be achieved. He did not receive early diagnosis and treatment; however, for patients admitted in adulthood, ridiculous results are obtained when pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy are carried out simultaneously and for a long time. The trust, bond and cooperation to be established between the patient and the therapist are the biggest Deciders of the effective treatment process.

.
Especially in adolescent individuals, the presence of hyperactivity disorder causes intense behaviors that may contain life risks. Unable to start a job in adult individuals with ADHD, an inability to complete what he started in the workplace inefficiency, time management, inability to sitting through a meeting, inability to handle stress, anger attacks, just don’t measure it, weigh out, driving problems, and interpersonal problems, and their individual responsibilities and management of people with low self confidence problems where a high risk of depression and suicide are seen.

Since ADHD is a neurobiological disease, the influence of genetic factors is undeniable. In addition to the unusual and genetic factors in brain chemicals, there is also a history of October life in which adequate and balanced parenting attitudes are not exhibited without taking into account the rights and needs of the child, such as love, attention, care and guidance in early childhood.

What does ADHD treatment include?

In the treatment of ADHD, drugs that provide focus if there is a predominance of attention deficit; drugs that reduce impulsivity are primarily prescribed by psychiatrist physicians if there are predominant symptoms of impulsivity and excessive mobility. In case of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, the neurologist, psychiatrist and clinical psychologist should work with a multidisciplinary and holistic approach. In these three areas, it is important to make assessments.

At the point of treatment with psychotherapy is ecol cognitive behavioral therapy, in which the benefits of its application have been scientifically proven. If ADHD has not been diagnosed and treated until adulthood; first of all, a wide-ranging psychoeducation related to the disease is given. In this way, the person with ADHD and his or her immediate environment can discover the sources of the problems experienced. Knowing something eliminates misunderstandings and uncertainty with the acquired awareness. An individual can get rid of the root belief that something is wrong with him. Thanks to cognitive behavioral therapy, an individual with ADHD is provided with alternative, more realistic and functional thoughts to replace the distorted and dysfunctional system of thinking about himself, others and the world.

Guidance is given on issues that improve the quality of life, such as self-worth, self-love, self-confidence and self-compassion. In relationships, different points of view are developed. Communication and social skills can be increased. Support is provided in emotion management for individuals who have problems in life due to low tolerance for feelings of anxiety, stress and anger. With the provision of all this, a person with ADHD can also achieve success professionally or academically.

Medication alone is not enough to treat ADHD. However, it is an important and first step to ensure that brain chemicals Tuesday at normal levels of release and that chemicals are transmitted to each other. It is essential that the consequences of negative life events, internalized distorted thinking errors, problems with self-confidence and low communication skills in adult ADHD individuals up to the diagnosis and treatment process are carefully and patiently addressed and provided with the necessary support and guidance.
