Stages of Rhinoplasty in Turkey

If you are considering rhinoplasty, you need to know what will happen and what you will experience during rhinoplasty surgery. You should thoroughly investigate the rhinoplasty surgery. There are four main steps in rhinoplasty surgery: examination and decision, preparation, surgical operation, recovery. The process of rhinoplasty surgery primarily begins with consultation.

Examination and decision stage in rhinoplasty:

Perhaps you have been unhappy with the appearance of your nose for a long time. Perhaps you have a medical problem, such as a deviated septum, that requires you to consider having a rhinoplasty. Whatever your reason, the process begins with an examination.

For this, you should first make an appointment with a plastic surgeon. During the examination, your face will be examined in detail by your surgeon. In addition to your medical history, you will be asked a series of questions about your personal goals for rhinoplasty. Once you have determined that you are a good candidate for the procedure, you will be shown before and after photos of previous patients and a computer-generated image to show you what you can expect in your own appearance. By conducting pre- and post-analysis on your own simulation images, the new nose shape is determined in common with the most ideal state of your design. Then the details of the rhinoplasty surgery are determined.

After you decide to have a rhinoplasty, the surgery is planned and you will be given very specific instructions about what you need to do to prepare before the procedure. Rhinoplasty is usually considered a safe procedure, but there are things that the patient should do to minimize the risks.

The stage of surgical preparation in rhinoplasty:

If you smoke, you should quit smoking at least two weeks ago. You will also need to provide your surgeon with a list of the medications you are using. Especially blood thinning medications, you need to stop for a while before surgery, in addition, you should also get information about the medications that you should use regularly.

Also, you need to arrange for someone to drive you to and from the clinic on the day of surgery. Since you need a few days for recovery, if you are working, you should take time off or plan the day of surgery accordingly.

Since you can’t do heavy work for a few days, you can take care of the things that need to be done before the operation. You can also satisfy your shopping needs. A shopping list consisting of drinks and soft foods will make it easier for you during your postoperative nutrition process.

The stage of surgical operation in rhinoplasty:

Rhinoplasty surgery can be performed with two different techniques: open and closed technique. In the closed technique, rhinoplasty is performed with incisions made through the nostrils. And stitches are thrown into the nostrils that spontaneously melt. Thus, no incisions visible from the outside, i.e. scars, are formed.

In the open technique, a small incision is opened at the very bottom of the part between the nostrils and the nasal decussation is removed. And after the shape on the nose is removed according to the need, the skin of the nose is closed and a thin stitch is made. This becomes vague as it heals over time.

Because it is performed under general anesthesia, the patient becomes asleep. And no pain is felt. The patient can usually return home on the same day. A protective band is placed on the nose, plastic splints are placed inside the nostrils, which also help breathing.

The stage of recovery in rhinoplasty:

The healing process in rhinoplasty is much more effortless than in the past thanks to the developing technology. Splints are removed within a few days. Due to the use of sensitive instruments in surgery, bruises do not occur mostly because the soft tissue is not damaged. Edema may still occur in the nose for a few days. A large part of the payment passes in the first week. After this stage, nasal healing continues for more than a year.

Stay with love.
