CHANGES THAT NEED TO BE MADE IN SKIN CARE DURING MENOPAUSE

Menopause is one of those strange topics that no one likes to talk about. Many women have strange feelings during these periods in their lives. After all, getting older is part of life. Instead of clinging to the illusion of youth, women need to accept menopause as another stage of their physical development. However, it is a stage that can bring with it some new worries, which is why skin care is at the very beginning of what needs to be taken care of the most. Here is a small list of what you should pay attention to for your skin care during menopause.

One of these concerns during menopause is how changes in your body will affect your skin care routine. Skin care is not just about beauty, because the skin is part of our body. Skin care for the menopausal woman does not mean erasing the signs of old age on your face. The important part of skin care during menopause is to make sure that you look and feel your best as you move towards the next stage of your life.

.
YOUR SKIN WILL NEED EXTRA MOISTURE

As estrogen levels in your body decrease during menopause, so does your skin’s ability to produce its natural oils. Your hyaluronic acid levels also decrease, which causes the skin to lose moisture. This also returns to you as a dry skin structure.

So what should you do to combat your drying skin? Dermatologists recommend not to use soap specifically for this, and instead recommend washing with a soft cleansing gel. You may also need to apply the moisturizer more often.

.
CHOOSE CREAM-BASED MOISTURIZERS

Give preference to a moisturizer containing ceramide, glycerin or hyaluronic acid, which your skin has lost, but a cream-based moisturizer will be better instead of lotion. The dermatologist Dr. tells that water or alcohol based lotions don’t retain as much moisture as oil-based creams. She recommends moisturizing also while your skin is still slightly moisturized so that some moisture has formed for the cream to get in.

.
BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN EXFOLIATING

With age, lines and wrinkles that become deeper and deeper occur. You will also see more dead skin cells. Your instinct may say that you need to rub out all the dead cells, but you may be doing more harm than good to your face. If you are careful to choose a very gentle exfoliating product, your exfoliation at home can be safe and should only be accompanied by expert supervision once a week.

.
ACNE CAN REAPPEAR UNEXPECTEDLY

Pimples are a price that everyone pays when they are young. And when you grow up, just before your work appointment, you may face a big nightmare of pimples on your nose. During menopause, your hormones may want to go through one last insult, so you may find yourself facing the dreaded return of acne.

.
SUNSCREEN IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST

The older you get, the longer your skin spends in the sun. If you have applied sunscreen diligently every day since you were a small child, you may have minimal sun damage, but if you are like most of us, you may tend to forget something from time to time. If you are really unlucky, you may even be a pale-skinned girl who grew up in an era when the summer sun tan was considered the peak of fashion.

.
PAY ATTENTION TO THE SIGNS OF SKIN CANCER

While sun exposure can cause wrinkles, lines, and age spots, by decisively the worst side effect is an increased risk of skin cancer. Before using any type of age spot treatment, contact your dermatologist for a complete skin examination. If you use a product aimed at removing age spots at a point when it turns out to be a cancerous growth, they may fade and become less visible, but the cancer itself will continue to cause harm. If your skin is sending you a danger signal, you should definitely consult a specialist before putting it off.
