Revision Septorhinoplasty in Turkey

According to the aesthetic understanding accepted today, everyone wants to have a proportional nose that fits their face. But there are a large number of people who do not have the nose shape they want, or whose noses are deformed by any impact after many years.

This condition can make people unhappy aesthetically, as well as these disorders in the internal structure of the nose can also lead to serious breathing difficulties. Rather than creating an aesthetic nose appearance, nose surgery that allows patients to breathe more comfortably by eliminating the deviation (curvature) problem in the nose is called septorhinoplasty or functional nose surgery.

Sometimes the results obtained with these operations may not be satisfactory for patients. The most common complication encountered in septorhinoplasty operations is that nasal congestion or difficulty breathing problems do not go away after the operation. Nasal congestion may be pre-existing, as well as in some cases it may have developed after a surgical operation. The causes of nasal congestion after this operation may be excessive reduction during the operation, collapse of the nasal walls, or inability to correct the curvature adequately. The purpose of revision septoplasty is to solve these problems with a second surgery.

After the first operation, it is necessary to wait for some time to decide whether a secondary operation is necessary. This period may be between 6 months and 1 year depending on the patient’s condition. However, if the patient is unable to breathe properly after the operation or is faced with another serious functional problem, surgery should be decided and action should be taken without wasting time. For this reason, it is very important that postoperative controls are not disrupted and that communication with the surgeon is maintained. Remember that the nose surgery process is a long process that includes not only the operation, but also the pre- and postoperative stages.

Secondary septorhinoplasty operation can be a difficult psychological process for patients. Every patient wants to achieve a successful result with the first surgery. However, even if you encounter such a setback, you should definitely not break your morale. Although it is true that the revision operation is more complicated than the first surgery, the success rate is high. Psychologically preparing patients before this surgery plays an important role for success. For this reason, I do my best to comfort my patients in my previous evaluations of the operation, telling them in detail how the process will progress.

Although the duration of the operation varies depending on the condition of the nose to be corrected, it takes 2-3 hours on average. After the operation, the patient is kept under supervision for one day and then discharged the next day. After revision septoplasty, patients will have some swelling and bruising on the face, just like after the first operation. These bruises and swellings will decrease and begin to disappear after a week.

After secondary septorhinoplasty surgery by doctor in Turkey, a regular check-up process is again a must. Examining patients at intervals and evaluating changes in the nose is of great importance for the healing process.
