MEMBER OF SCIENTIFIC BOARD PROF. DR. IN A NUTSHELL: OMICRON WILL DOMINATE WORLD

Member of the Coronavirus Scientific Board of the Ministry of Health in Turkey, Prof. Dr. stated that the ‘Omicron’ variant will create a serious epidemic and said, “We expect that Omicron will become the dominant variant all over the world in the coming process. In winter, a very serious surge may occur, it is necessary to be very careful,” he said.

Member of the Coronavirus Scientific Board of the Turkish Ministry of Health Prof. Dr. spoke about the mutated virus Omicron. Noting the importance of the third dose of the vaccine, Prof. Dr. The concise “Omicron variant ” began to be seen more and more often in the world. The World Health Organization recently announced that Omicron has been seen in 89 countries.

The number of people who have become ill with this variant is growing rapidly. It seems that in the near future this variant will become dominant all over the world. Previously, we had a similar one in the Delta variant. The Delta variant had replaced other variants. But Omicron is spreading faster than Delta. It is more advantageous; the mutations it has make it more advantageous than other variants. Because it has two important advantages; the virus also wants to live, multiply and spread. Omicron is more advantageous in this respect than Delta. Because it clings to the cell more easily, is transmitted more easily, and spreads faster.

Secondly, he is able to save himself to some extent from the immunity gained both by vaccinations and by passing the disease on. Therefore, we expect that Omicron will become the dominant variant all over the world in the coming process,” he said.

Turkish Member of the Coronavirus Scientific Board of the Ministry of Health Prof. Doctor adds…

.
NOW THERE IS A VARIANT THAT IS MORE EASILY TRANSMITTED

Stating that there will be serious fluctuations in the number of cases with the Omicron variant, Prof. Dr. “Of course, this leads to the following situation; we may face a serious increase in the number of patients, as it spreads much faster than Delta. As a matter of fact, the number of patients in Europe is showing serious increases.

We are seeing that European countries are going back again to very serious restrictions, bans and closures on this issue. Therefore, the Omicron variant looks like it will turn this process back into a form of global fluctuation. Of course, the arrival of the winter season also facilitates this. Because we were already together in closed environments during the winter, the risk of transmission increasing. Moreover, now there is a variant that is more easily transmitted.

Therefore, a very serious surge may occur in the winter. For today, the number of cases per day in the world is about 700 thousand to 800 thousand. Deaths are about 7-8 thousand per day. But when a fluctuation occurs with this variant, it is calculated that these figures will be much higher, scenarios are being made. These are, of course, creepy, alarming scenarios. From that point of view, it is necessary to be very careful,” he said.
