AN APPLICATION THAT APPROACHES 100 PERCENT SUCCESS IN DENTAL TREATMENT IN TURKEY
The teeth of the patient who was about to lose his teeth were saved with the cyst operation and root tip resection procedure applied at Dokuz Eylul University (DEU) Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Center, and the success rate of classical treatment was increased from 60 percent to 98 percent to 100 percent.
Modern practices carried out in the Oral and Dental Health Practice and Research Center of the Faculty of Dentistry of DEU, which is one of the most important investments in the field of health that Dokuz September University in Izmir city (DEU) has brought to our country, are healing patients. The cyst operation, root tip resection and root tip occlusion with retrograde biocompatible material performed at the DEU Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Center, saved the natural teeth of the patient who was about to lose his teeth from the extraction process. The success rate increased from 60 percent to 98-100 percent with treatment performed with modern methods instead of root tip resection in classical treatment. DEU Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Center Chief Physician Assoc. Dr. stated that they saved the patient’s natural teeth with the treatment method they applied and achieved close to 100 percent success…

THE SUCCESS RATE IS VERY HIGH
He is the Chief Physician of the DEU Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Center and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery A.D. The Faculty Member is Assoc. Doctor, Deputy Director of the Center and Endodontics A.D. Its president is Assoc. Dr. Speaking about the operation they performed, he said, “Our patient broke his tooth while playing with his friend when he was 8 years old, and he didn’t have his treatment until he was this age because he was afraid in the next period. Our patient has a cystic condition in the anterior region of the upper jaw that covers about 4 teeth. With the operation we performed, we removed both this cyst and cut only 1 in 3 of the root ends of the 4 teeth in the upper jaw anterior region and performed a procedure called root tip resection. After cutting the root end of the tooth, we filled the 2-3 mm gap prepared retrograde at the root end with biocompatible material with the help of ultrasonic instruments and performed a treatment process with a success rate approaching 100 percent. If we had applied classical treatment and had not filled the root tip with any material or filled it with a filler called amalgam as it used to be, we would have achieved a 60 percent success rate at best. We are increasing our success rate by using all kinds of opportunities required by modern technology,” he said.

THE PATIENT’S TEETH WERE SAVED
Explaining the difference between the applied treatment and the classical treatment methods, Assoc. Doctor said, “In the treatment concept we have realized, we aim to continue the life of the tooth for a longer period of time after healing by cutting the tip of the root. When filling the tip of the root, we use biocompatible materials called MTA instead of the old methods. If we had not successfully performed this operation, our patient would have lost these teeth for a long time. The teeth could be removed and replaced with an implant, but as a result, along with the loss of teeth, the bone in this area would also be largely lost. Having bone loss could have led to health and aesthetic problems. We have saved the patient’s natural teeth with this treatment,” he said. The practical implementation of theoretical knowledge at the point of the point is important DEU Center for Dental Research “DEU oral and dental health practice and Research Center in the light of our current scientific data, is making every effort in the making of the necessary operations with practical applications. We think that it is very important for Izmir and our region that such applications are also being made at our university,” he explained.
Despite the fact that the DEU Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Center was recently established, the Rector of DEU Prof. Dr. Assoc. stating that he has successfully carried out many applications in the field of dentistry with the support of the top management of the Rectorate. Doctor stated that they also provide services for people with disabilities.
