ABOUT BREAST AUGMENTATION IN TURKEY

Turkey Medicals, answered some of the most common questions that our patients ask about augmentation for you.

What is breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation is an optional aesthetic surgical procedure designed to enlarge your breasts or achieve symmetry. Breast augmentation can be done by transferring fat from one area of your body or, more commonly, surgically placing breast implants. It is applied to people who want to increase the size of their breasts or have volume loss in their breasts due to different reasons such as weight loss, pregnancy, breastfeeding, asymmetry. Those with asymmetrical breasts may also want to equalize the size of their breasts through augmentation. Other candidates include patients whose breasts are not developing as expected. Before the augmentation procedure is performed, the patient must have fully developed breasts. It should be remembered that breast augmentation does not provide breast lift.

How is breast augmentation surgery performed?

Breast augmentation surgery is an outpatient procedure. Most of the time, people can go home the same day after the procedure. Since the procedure will most likely be performed under general anesthesia, you will not feel pain. Follow your surgeon’s instructions to prepare 24 hours before your procedure.

Breast implants can be placed as either under-muscle or over-muscle by opening an incision through the lower crease of the breast. The incisions are closed with aesthetic stitches. As he heals, the scars become indistinct over time.

Are there any risks or side effects?

A common risk in breast augmentation surgery is need for subsequent surgical procedures, i.e. revision, to correct complications that may occur. Some people may then request a different-sized implant or a lift operation because the skin stretches over time. Patients with breast implants should observe their breasts and go for a checkup if there are any changes or new growths, swelling or pain.

How is the recovery process after breast augmentation surgery?

After your breast augmentation procedure, it is recommended to wear a bandage or bra that supports your breasts for the support you need during recovery. Medication can also be prescribed for pain. You will also be given advice on when you should return to normal work and leisure activities. Most people can return to work within a few days, but you may need to take up to a week off to recover. If your job is more physical, you may need to take a longer break to recover decently.

When it comes to exercise and physical activity, you need to avoid every strenuous activity for at least two weeks. Following invasive surgery, you should avoid raising your blood pressure or pulse. Other than that, too much movement can be painful. The results of the procedure can be seen immediately. It is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle after surgery. If you smoke, quit. Smoking can delay recovery.

How to prepare for breast augmentation operation?

You must fully comply with the preoperative instructions given to you to prepare for your procedure. For this reason, it may be necessary to stop feeding and taking medications or supplements at least 3 weeks before the operation. You should not eat or drink from midnight before your procedure. In the weeks before breast augmentation surgery, your surgeon recommends that you stop smoking. Smoking increases your risk of complications, restricts blood flow in the body, and can prolong recovery after surgery. Smoking lowers your immunity and increases your risk of developing infections.

As a result

Breast augmentation is the enlargement of the breasts by placing saline or silicone implants. Implants can be placed behind breast tissue or breast muscle. Candidates include people who want larger breasts, want to add symmetry to their body shape and proportions, or have lost breast volume due to weight loss or pregnancy. Like all surgeries, breast augmentation surgery also carries risks. These include scarring, infection, implant decapitation, wrinkling of the skin around the implant site, breast pain and more. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia.

Breast implants are not guaranteed to last forever, so our follow-ups are done regularly, and in the future you may need to have additional procedures such as implant changes, gravity effect and correction of sagging skin with age. It is important that you find a plastic surgeon who is an expert in his field to achieve the best possible result. The initial recovery may take up to a week. Long-term recovery may take several weeks or longer. It is very important that you go for regular checkups to speed up your recovery and protect your breasts from possible scars and complications.
