MICROSURGERY METHOD IN HERNIATED DISC
Muscle tissue can be largely protected because fewer incisions are made by microsurgery in herniated disc operations Nov.
Turkey Medicals member and Ankara University Faculty of Medicine Department of brain and neurosurgery professor Dr. “herniated disc is a serious health problem that lowers a person’s standard of living and leads to pain.”
Professor, stressed that herniated disc is a great problem, especially for professional athletes, both in terms of Health and career, saying: “herniated disc treatment affects the career of professional athletes. Therefore, the form of treatment should be well determined,” he said.
Professor said that more than 80 percent success was achieved in patients treated with herniated disc, in addition to surgery, methods such as rest, physical therapy were also applied in the treatment of the disease.
Professor, who said that people with a herniated disc usually experience lower back pain, pain or numbness in the leg, said that he tried to avoid the option of general surgery, especially because athletes avoid a long recovery period.
– Athletes can return to the field after 5 months
Professor reported that the most effective surgical method in professional athletes is lumbar hernia surgery (microdiscectomy) performed using a microscope. Erdogan, who stressed that a smaller skin incision was made in this operation and less damage to novelized muscle tissue, said: “the rate of professional athletes returning to the field again is about 80 percent in 5 months. Studies have shown that Microdiscectomy is the most effective treatment method when surgery is required,” he said.
Professor, who explained that the patient’s post-operative period with the microdiscectomy method is more comfortable and painless, said::
Novos novos ” because less muscle tissue is damaged, less muscle spasms and pain are also seen after surgery. Thanks to the microscope used in surgery, the tissues can also be seen in three dimensions and down to the smallest detail. This, in turn, reduces the risk of possible complications.
Patients get up about 8 hours after the operation. Drug therapy is applied to complain of pain. Patients are usually discharged after one or two operations. Surgical treatment is performed when the patient does not recover by other methods.”
