How Old Can Eyelid Aesthetics Be Done?
Although the patients applying for eyelid aesthetics are usually over the age of 35, patients with eyelid sagging problems caused due to different reasons may also request aesthetics. If there is an aesthetic need due to genetic reasons, familial factors or racial genetics, the operation can be performed even at the age of 20. Although the age of surgery for blepharoplasty operations may vary, it can be applied even at children’s ages if the eyelid is so low that it prevents the visual function of the eye, called ptosis.
Surgical aesthetic procedures performed for eyelid miscarriages can be applied to the upper eyelid, lower eyelid or both in the same session. The eyelid is the area that shows the most signs of aging around the eye. The bags under the eyes and sagging on the upper eyelid that occur due to aging and the effect of gravity can be corrected as a result of blepharoplasty surgery to give the skin a much younger appearance.
How is Eyelid Aesthetics Performed?
The eyelid consists of 4 layers with different structures in the form of skin, muscle, fascia and fat packs. In the upper eyelid aesthetics application, the eyelid is numbed by using local anesthesia, first the skin, then a part of the muscle is removed. Then, the fat packages located on the inner and middle line are reached and a section of the herniated packages is taken. After the procedure, the incisions are closed with stitches that have melting properties in the body and the process is terminated.
In aesthetic surgery performed on behalf of lower eyelid aesthetics, the patient’s eye area is desensitized by applying local anesthesia. By lifting the skin and muscles, fat packs located in the inner and middle region are accessed. After a part of the fat packs is removed, the surgical procedure is terminated by removing a part of the excess muscle and skin and closing the incision with dissolving sutures.
How Long is the Healing Process After Eyelid Aesthetics?
The biggest feature of surgical procedures performed on behalf of eyelid aesthetics is that there are no scars left after surgery and there is no aesthetic loss. After operations that do not require a procedure such as suture removal, the patient completes the healing process within about 2 weeks. After eyelid aesthetics, as the slight swelling and color changes that occur after surgery disappear, the shape of the eyelids has a much more vigorous and dynamic appearance than before. It is recommended that patients protect their eyes from the sun after surgery and use black sunglasses.
