FEAR DOES NOT HELP THE TOOTH, DESTROY THE PHOBIA

Despite all the developing technologies, the dentist’s phobia does not go away. Neglecting treatment due to fear of the dentist results in the loss of teeth. Fear of the dentist can only be avoided by sedation or general anesthesia.

Even with the simplest tooth decay, there is a risk of complete loss of that tooth if it is not treated in a timely manner. But most of us, instead of going to the dentist as soon as possible and solving our problem, make false excuses. However, if the treatment is delayed, the tooth is usually lost. People live with tooth decay and think, ‘nothing bad is happening to my tooth’ until the day the teeth have to be pulled out. One of the most important reasons for staying away from the dentist is the feeling called fear. If it means ‘I’m afraid’, it’s a difficult confession. For some people, dental treatments are scary and create tension due to the feeling characteristic of being human and such reasons. Some people exaggerate a minor pain condition that they experience during dental treatments. They tell us about memories of dental treatments. In most of the memories, that person; he had his teeth repaired with great pain and said some things that he endured the pain because he was very durable and lived with the dentist but did not actually live with. This seems to be a simple, made-up moment; it is also a harbinger of a much greater fear and disaster for many people. Because the nightmarish memories of someone else remain in the memory of the person who listened to him. One day tomorrow, when he has a dental problem, the big monster is now standing in front of his meeting with the dentist. A monster created with a memory that seems simple is called fear.

.
UNAWARE OF THE TECHNOLOGY

The fact that I learned about dentistry approaching 20 years ago and even now I find it difficult to believe is this: people from all walks of our society; whether businessmen, workers, retirees or civil servants; regardless of where they live or where they live, are unaware of technological developments in the field of dental health. We live in a world where photos or videos taken with mobile phones can be shared from second to second. However, when it comes to teeth; even in cartoons today, the dentist’s office is drawn with pliers, pliers or a hammer in his hand. Let’s call it humor, but the one that is bitter and the one that is shameful; the fact that such dental treatments find a place in a person’s mental fantasies.

.
TEETH AND BAD MEMORIES

Especially people who have had unpleasant experiences during dental treatment at an early age may be afraid of these treatments. It is a fact that businessmen, bureaucrats, especially with busy working lives and time constraints, avoid the dentist’s chair and lose their teeth in order to avoid having to undergo long and overwhelming dental treatments. In this case, they have to undergo much longer and more grueling treatments to replace lost teeth and melting bones. There are ways to facilitate treatments such as sedation and general anesthesia in patients who experience this classic fear of the Turkish hospital dentist and are afraid of the dental chair.

.
SEDATION DURING TREATMENTS

Various medications can be used for the sedation process, which also means sedation. Some of these drugs in the form of gases can be administered through a mask placed in the nose, intravenously, sublingually, in the form of suppositories (in children), orally. One of the most commonly used reliable systems in dentistry is N2O gas, which has been used for many years and is delivered by breathing.

.
REGIONAL ANESTHESIA IS NEEDED

Sedation does not prevent the patient from feeling pain. If the patient is needed after sedation, anesthesia should be performed necessarily. At this time, the patient is relieved of his worries and is eligible to cooperate. Because stress does not occur, sugar and blood pressure problems can be treated without problems in patients. Sedation is an unique option, especially in patients with high blood pressure and high blood sugar levels due to stress. Fainting, vomiting or fatigue are not observed during the procedure. The patient does not remember anything that was done during the operation, including anesthesia. Since he cannot remember the pain that has occurred, the voice, anything that he does not like, there is no traumatic effect after it. All operations inside the mouth can be completed in one session. Especially in children, the dentist phobia that may occur after the procedure is prevented. This will facilitate the patient’s arrival for dental treatment at later sessions. As soon as the drug is discontinued, its effects on the patient begin to decrease, the patient can be sent home without problems after resting. The procedure is not addictive, it can be repeated as needed. It can be used extremely safely in both adults and children. No known side effect. If a person will have to lose oral and dental health, we can say that sedation ensures that this fear is not felt by the patient during operations on the oral area. The patient should also know that sedation is a method that will be safely applied by the dentist..

.
SEDATION DENTIST TREATMENTS IN TURKEY

Simultaneous implant applications on the lower and upper jaw

In cases where dental incisions are required for aesthetic purposes

Embedded tooth extraction

All surgical applications that can be performed inside the mouth

If you have a fear of dental treatments and want to get rid of the procedures that can be done in many sessions at once, sedation is one of the most modern solutions.

.
TO WHOM CAN SEDATION BE APPLIED?

Sedation can be applied to anyone who wants, including children over a certain age. Sedation can be performed in people who are very nauseous during the procedure, in patients with diabetes mellitus, blood pressure problems for a long time, in procedures that can take a very long time, in children who do not like long-term procedures, get bored quickly, sometimes only at the request of the patient. Sedation is not general anesthesia, it is applied in the dentist’s office, not in a hospital or operating room. In this process, the patient does not completely lose consciousness and can follow the on/off instructions given to him by the Turkish doctor. The patient can talk quite normally, establish a dialogue with the doctor. During the procedure, the patient’s pulse and blood pressure are monitored.

.
SOMETIMES GENERAL ANESTHESIA MAY BE MORE APPROPRIATE

Although sedation can be applied smoothly in almost everyone, general anesthesia is the ideal solution for the patient in some special cases. General anesthesia (narcosis) is a very deep state of sleep. In contrast to sedation, the patient is completely unconscious. The patient cannot hear what is being said, cannot respond to the doctor’s commands. It can be easily applied in cases where the patient needs to remain motionless for safety or in special cases where sedation cannot be applied. General anesthesia is essential for patients who cannot communicate with a doctor, have obstacles that cannot perform the commands given for dental treatment, even if sedation is applied, especially if many treatments are considered in one session.
