EATING OUT MAKES YOU FAT
Turkey Medicals member and Antalya hospital clinic Dietitian said that the food eaten outside made her fat. Stating that as the meals eaten outside the home increase, the extra pounds also increase, dietitian said that the food eaten outside leads to more fat and sodium intake.
Due to the hustle and bustle of city life and the busy pace of work, many people eat out more than at home. There are a lot of people who prefer to have breakfast, which is the most important meal of the day, with products such as doughnuts or tripe on the office desk.
Dietitian said that lunch and dinner eaten outside cause a significant amount of fat and sodium intake, but do not contain enough of the nutrients needed.
Noting that as the meals eaten outside the home increase, the extra pounds also increase and it becomes more difficult to maintain a healthy weight, dietitian said, “Prefer places that offer you a wide menu alternative. Do not hesitate to ask the waiters about the contents of unfamiliar dishes. Be careful not to go to dinner alone. Chat with your friend at dinner or take care of things other than eating, such as reading books and newspapers,” he said.
Salad preference is important
One of the points that dietitian draws attention to is the choice of salad: “Those who want to order a light meal prefer Caesar salad, which is included in the menu of almost every restaurant. But the dressing of the Caesar salad makes the salad as caloric a food as the main dishes. Instead, give preference to Mediterranean salads or seafood salads. You can create both a healthy and balanced meal with two slices of grain bread and an acid-free drink.”
Don’t skip lunch because I’m going out for dinner tonight
According to Turkish dietitian, who advises ”do not skip the previous meal on the day you are going to eat out“, the inability to keep hunger under control causes you to be more easily attracted to the menus in the restaurant: “Order yourself meals where Dec food groups coexist when you eat out, as at home. For example, you can consume grilled meat or chicken, as well as green salad, buttermilk as a drink and 1-2 slices of grain bread.”
Do not equate restaurant quality with large portions
Emphasizing that the portion size of the dish is also very important, dietitian said, “Nowadays, large portions are kept equivalent to the quality of the restaurant, which is the reason for preference when choosing a restaurant. Ask them to bring your food in small portions in places that you know serve food in large portions, or ask them to consume as much as you need and pack the rest,” he said.
