TURKISH HOMEMADE COUGH SYRUP RECIPE

2 Ginger

Ginger acts as a natural decongestant. It also relieves sore throat thanks to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral and antibacterial properties. It has a component called Oleoresin that has the ability to prevent coughing, which means it can help prevent and relieve coughing.

Honey

Honey is another source of healing that helps soothe cough by soothing the throat. It also has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties that help fight upper respiratory tract infections.

Lemon

Lemon juice is useful for suppressing coughs and fighting colds due to its high vitamin C content. It acts as a powerful antioxidant and strengthens the immune system. In addition, Lemon has antiviral and antibacterial properties to fight infections.

Homemade cough syrup preparation:

1. Peel a piece of ginger root and cut into slices.

2. Grate the rind of 2 fresh lemons.

3. Pour 1 cup of water into a saucepan.

4. Add 1/4 cup ginger.

5. Add 1½ to 2 tablespoons lemon zest.

6. After starting to simmer, boil for 5 minutes.

7. Strain the mixture and set aside.

8. Pour 1 cup of honey into a saucepan and heat over low heat but do not let it boil.

9. Stir in the pre-drained ginger mixture.

10. Add the juice removed from both lemons.

11. Continue stirring the mixture over low heat for a few minutes.

12. After quenching the bottom and pour the mixture into a bottle or jar with a lid. Your homemade cough syrup is ready!

How much should be used?

– Half or 1 teaspoon every 2 hours for children aged 1 to 5.

– 1-2 teaspoons every 2 hours for children aged 5-12.

– 1-2 tablespoons every 4 hours for adults and children over 12 years old.
