In Breast Aesthetics, the Area where the Implant is Placed and the Anatomical Structure of the Breast

The breast consists largely of adipose tissue, mammary glands. It muscles to the chest wall with pectoral muscles called pectorals. There are 15 – 20 lobes in the breast. These lobes are formed by the union of lobules, which are smaller structures. The mammary glands located in the lobules are connected to the nipple by ducts.

The lymph vessels carry the lymph fluid that fights infection to the lymph nodes (glands) located around the collarbone under the armpit thanks to the white blood cells it contains.

There are 3 hormones that play an active role in the growth, development of breast tissue and milk production: estrogen, progesterone and prolactin.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, aging, medication use, hormonal changes and diseases cause the shape of the breast to change over time. In some women, the breast may be larger, smaller, drooping, or asymmetrical than usual for no reason. In such cases, breast aesthetics is applied as a treatment method in order to give the breast a normal and aesthetic appearance.

In breast augmentation surgeries and breast lift surgeries where the breast volume is less than normal, a silicone implant is placed in the pocket created under the breast tissue and the breast is brought to its ideal size. The choice of silicone implant is made according to its volume, shape and surface characteristics, taking into account the patient’s expectations. For more detailed information, you can review our article where a comparison of silicone implants of drop and round shape is made.

An incision can be made from 3 different areas to create a pocket under the breast tissue: the nipple, the fold of the breast, the armpit. The size of the incisions is about 3-4 cm. All of them have their advantages and disadvantages.

Another issue that should be decided together with the incision sites when planning your Antalya breast surgery is the area where the implant will be placed. A silicone implant can be placed just below the breast tissue or just below the muscle tissue located below the breast tissue. A dual plan is often preferred, in which part of the prosthesis is placed under muscle, and part under the breast tissue. When muscle between these alternatives, the plastic surgeon takes into account many criteria such as the volume of breast tissue, skin thickness, the structure of the pectoral muscles, and the condition of the rib cage.
