2.6 MILLION TOURISTS CAME TO TURKEY IN APRIL

The number of foreign visitors to Turkey in April was 2 million 574 thousand, an increase of 226 percent compared to the same month a year ago.

January to April, the number of foreign visitors amounted to 7 million 477 thousand, an increase of 173 percent compared to the same period last year, according to data confirmed by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The largest number of foreign visitors came from Germany with 395 thousand people in April, followed by Bulgaria with 270 thousand people and the United Kingdom with 225 thousand people. The number of visitors from these three countries recorded a strong increase compared to the previous year.

THE NUMBER OF ARRIVALS FROM RUSSIA HAS DECREASED

On the other hand, the number of visitors from Russia has decreased to 130 thousand people from 156 thousand people in the same month last year.

Russia, which has traditionally been the country that sends the most tourists to Turkey, is the 5th in the number of foreign visitors in April, after Iran, with the developments after the invasion of Ukraine, it was able to take the next place.

In January-April 2022, the total number of visitors from Russia also decreased to 490 thousand from 552 thousand people in the same period last year. After Russia; Germany, Bulgaria and Iran took place.
