WHAT IS MYOPIA?

It is the most common refractive error of the eye and the inability to see far clearly due to the fact that the eye is longer than normal. If myopia is severe, it also damages near vision.

CAUSES OF MYOPIA

  • The main cause of myopia is changes in length that occur on some axes of the eye.

  • Myopia can be congenital, as well as develop and progress depending on environmental and genetic factors. If the mother or father has myopia, the risk of developing myopia in the child is greater.

  • Pseudomyopia (false myopia) is a condition of the development of myopia in the eyes due to the inability of the ciliary muscles in the eye to completely relax as a result of stress, fatigue and overload.
