It is the most common refractive error of the eye and the inability to see far clearly due to the fact that the eye is longer than normal. If myopia is severe, it also damages near vision.

Signs and symptoms of myopia include difficulty seeing far away, eye squinting, strabismus, eye fatigue and headache.


– Low myopia: -4.30 and less grade defects.

– Moderate myopia: defects between 5.30 and 5.40. In this case, color distribution symptoms or glaucoma may occur.

– High myopia: includes defects of -6,00 and above. In these myopes, shadow-like shapes, floating objects can be seen in the field of view.


During myopia treatment, vision loss can be prevented by the patient using lenses or glasses. Myopia will continue to be unable to see far away when they remove their lenses or glasses. In addition, laser treatment is also performed. It is possible to get rid of myopia with laser treatment.

The operation is performed using the methods required by the patient with a laser device called Excimer laser. Laser surgery can treat myopia up to 12 degrees. Intraocular smart lenses can also be applied in patients who are not suitable for Lasik or eye laser surgery in Turkey.
