WARNING TO THOSE GOING ON WINTER HOLIDAYS: WE SHOULD USE SUNSCREEN AS IF WE WERE ON A SEA HOLIDAY

President of the Association of the Eurasian Academy of Dermatology and Venerology of Erzurum (eastern Turkey region) and Head of the Department of Skin and Venereal Diseases of the Faculty of Medicine of Ataturk University Assoc. Dr. advised those who are going on a winter vacation to use sunscreen. Stating that the sun’s rays age the skin and cause wrinkles and skin cancer, said, “Just as we use sunscreens when we go to the sea, we should definitely use them on a snow holiday and when we go to the mountains”.

Emphasizing that the mountains of Turkey, as well as the sea, are of great interest to domestic and foreign tourists, the head of the Department of Skin and Venereal Diseases Assoc. Dr. stressed that those who go on a winter vacation should protect themselves from the sun, as well as protect themselves from the cold. Assoc. Dr. “The sun’s rays age our face, skin, cause wrinkles and cancer.

It is very important and necessary to use a ski mask or sunscreen creams. As sunscreens, we recommend that they choose creams with a protection factor of 30 and above. We should always have sunscreens that we don’t leave with us when we go to the sea, and we should keep them with us when we go skiing. It is correct to apply creams about 20 minutes before going out, and it is necessary to repeat this several times throughout the day, that is, repeat 1 sunscreen every 3 hours,” he said.

Assoc., who noted that the effect of ultraviolet rays in the air also increases as the altitude increases. Dr. said, “Snow reflects light like a mirror, so both white reflects light and also increases the effect of high-altitude ultraviolet. If we don’t use sunscreen cream in such an environment, we will invite skin cancer in the future. In the future, skin aging and wrinkling of our skin will be much more than those protected from the sun. We would have taken much greater risks than a person protected from the sun. For him, it is very important that you protect exposed areas of the sun, such as our face and neck, from the sun with sunscreens or with ski masks, which we call a barrier method.

Just as we protect our skin with sunscreens or ski masks, we also need to protect our eyes with ultraviolet-protected sunglasses. Otherwise, it will be damaged in our eyes like our skin,” he said.
