Assoc. Doctor, “Children with special abilities sleep less and are more energetic from an early age. Attention skills are more intense compared to their peers,” he said.

Answering the questions of Turkey Medicals, the head of the Department of Special Education of the Faculty of Education Assoc. Dr. explained a large number of concepts such as factors affecting the development of intelligence, superior ability, superior intelligence, genius and special ability.

We asked how and when it is understood that a child is gifted, Assoc. said, “Actually, we can explain it this way. Although there are no limitations, it is generally understood at an earlier age than its peers. Children with special abilities, from an early age, sleep less and are more energetic. Attention skills are more intense compared to their peers,” he replied.

Assoc. stating that the activities that should be done if the diagnosis was made at an early age should be family-based. Dr. said that it is very important that the family is in the process because the child will spend most of his life with his family.

In areas such as schools, it would be more beneficial for children with special abilities to study in an environment where special ability areas are supported within normal education rather than a segregated education consisting of special ability areas, the doctor pointing out, in addition to transferring scientific knowledge to gifted children, he assessed that teaching basic moral rules and integrating them into their lives can prevent children from being led to incorrect behavior.

Assoc., who also stated that it is necessary to ensure that the child can come into contact with environments of different interests at an early stage, emphasized the importance of families being in such environments and revealing the abilities of children.
