7 EFFECTIVE WAYS TO MAINTAIN SKIN HEALTH IN WINTER

Turkey Medicals member reviews Turkish Dermatologist Dr. who informs that, Cold and dry air causes the skin’s protective barrier to weaken and lose moisture. Our doctor listed his skin care proposal in 7 steps specific to the winter months as follows;

  1. Instead of a hot shower, take a warm shower: frequent washing and washing with hot water reduces skin oils and causes the skin to dry more. The products used in the bathroom are creamy, the use of special bath oils and the application of a moisturizer throughout the body when the skin is moist after the bath will give the skin the moisture it needs.
    .
  2. Adjust ambient temperature well: adjust ambient temperature well: indoor and outdoor temperature in winter are quite different. It is necessary not to be in very close contact with the heat source when adjusting the temperature of the environment in which you are located. A thermostat can be used to adjust the room temperature. Another solution is the use of air humidifier. Indoors, it is recommended that the ambient temperature is 20 degrees during the day, 19 degrees at night, and humidity is between 45-55 percent.
    .
  3. Moisturize your skin: if you have dry skin, you should use a gentle cleansing foam without soap, paraben and coloring additives to protect and strengthen the protective barrier of the skin, and gently dry your skin. Do not forget to apply a moisturizing cream with a protective effect for the areas of the hands, nose and lips that are heavily exposed to external factors such as wind and cold. In summer, it is more convenient to use oil-free and water-based moisturizers; in winter, more intense and oily moisturizers are more useful to protect our dry skin. The most intense and powerful moisturizers are those that contain Vaseline and mineral oil.
    .
  4. Choose a perfumed cleanser: using the wrong soap can dry your skin. Use perfume-free moisturizing cleansers. Also avoid using excessive soap in winter to prevent dryness.
    .
  5. Increase your liquid consumption: the amount of water consumed during the day is very important. Drinking enough water in summer and winter is vitally important not only for your skin, but for everything in your body. In addition to using moisturizers in winter, drinking plenty of water is very important in increasing skin moisture. In winter, it is also possible to clean all cells and stay healthy by drinking less than two liters of water a day.
    .
  6. Pay attention to your diet: fruits and vegetables grown in winter, especially in season, should be consumed in abundance. A diet dominated by raw vegetables and fruits; protects the skin, renews, provides flexibility and gives a healthy glow. For vitamin E and D, Fish and dried fruits, almonds, walnuts, nuts, pistachios, Kiwi, fennel, spinach are excellent sources of vitamin E for the skin.
    .
  7. Use sunscreen: use sunscreen on sunny winter days as well as in summer. In addition, even if it is not sunny, harmful UV rays can reach the skin through clouds, so you can use a moisturizer that contains at least 15 SPF sunscreen.
