ISN’T THE BASIS OF LIFE BASED ON RNA AND DNA?
A new study in Turkey has been done that will print biology books all over again. According to recent research in Istanbul, the basis of our life is not based on RNA and DNA. So where is the basis of our life based? Isn’t the basis of life really based on RNA and DNA? Come on, let’s all take a break together.

ISN’T THE BASIS OF LIFE BASED ON RNA AND DNA?
A new study has been done that will print biology books all over again. According to recent research, the basis of our life is not based on RNA and DNA. So where is the basis of our life based? Isn’t the basis of life really based on RNA and DNA? Come on, let’s all take a break together.
.
XNAS ARE THE BASIS OF LIFE
A group of scientists in Turkey has made important findings about what DNA and RNA, which form the basis of life, were much earlier. According to research, during the Young World periods when there was not even RNA, the basis of life was formed by nucleotide chains called ‘XNA’ with specific properties.
.
ALSO KNOWN AS DNA AND RNA
A group of scientists, who continue their work have conducted a very striking study of how life is formed. This research, has concluded that the origin of life may also date back to DNA and RNA. Moreover, scientists support this thesis with very strong evidence.
.
WHAT EXACTLY DOES XNA MEAN TO US?
Turkish scientists argue that there is also a basis before RNAs, which are known as the most basic of life. Scientists who call this basis ‘XNA’, that is, ‘xenonucleic acid’, suggest that this is exactly what ensured the existence of life in the pre-RNA period. So what exactly does this XNA mean for us?
.
IT HAS A DIFFERENT STRUCTURE
Scientists who have made statements about their research express that XNAs also consist of nucleotide chains, just like RNA and DNA. But he says that the spine that forms this chain has a different structure compared to DNA and RNA.
.
IT ENSURES THE FORMATION OF TODAY’S LIFE
He notes that these most basic molecules also have genetic codes. According to the scientist who argues that the human body cannot break down XNA, he declares that the ability to copy XNA without enzymes also allows today’s life to be formed.
.
WE NEED STRONG EVIDENCE
In order to change the beliefs that form the basis of today’s life, you need to have very strong evidence. As a result, Turk scientists wanted to understand whether current conditions allow spontaneous XNA synthesis during periods when even RNA does not exist. Interestingly, the researchers also managed to make this synthesis. So how was this synthesis carried out?
.
THEY DECONSTRUCTED IT TOGETHER
Scientists have combined a nucleic acid called ‘L-threon decol’, a specific XNA that they believe exists even from RNAs, with a ‘manganese ion and N-cyanomidazole compound’ that is predicted to exist in ‘Young Earth’ conditions. Experts call this a first. But the surprises are not limited to these either.
.
IT CAN BE TRANSFERRED
Scientists at the University of Istanbul have deconstructed whether a link can also be established between XNA and RNA and DNA. By showing that they can combine L-ATNA with DNA and RNA templates through their studies, scientists have also proved that the genetic codes contained in XNA can be transferred to RNA and DNA.
.
IS IT DANGEROUS?
The fact that XNA can be copied without the need for an enzyme is the most dangerous conclusion of the study. Because the researchers were able to replicate these nucleotide chains without using any enzymes. What’s even more strange is that some of the sections in the chain acted in a similar way to the enzyme during reproduction. These findings suggest that XNAs may have formed pre-RNA life.
.
COULD BE REAL?
Even if all this turned out, scientists continue their work unabated. If such a situation becomes a reality and much more important evidence is obtained, we may have to learn much more of the knowledge of biology that we have learned so far.
