ARE RECHARGEABLE TOOTHBRUSHES HARMFUL?

The main condition in maintaining the health of teeth and gums is the removal of a sticky layer called dental plaque, which accumulates on the teeth and contains bacteria that cause disease, by brushing your teeth on a daily basis. In toothbrushes, where different features are added every day with developing technology, it can be increasingly confusing for the consumer to choose the right brush. Turkish Assist. Assoc. Dr. pointed out that unconscious use of charged toothbrushes can cause abrasions and injuries to teeth and gums.

Turkish Dentist in Antalya pointed out that although recently charged toothbrushes seem to be in a disadvantageous position compared to manual brushes at the point of price-benefit balance, the frequency of use of charged brushes has increased due to the convenience they provide during their use and the positive motivation they create in the patient.

Dentist said that the new generation of charged brushes are used simultaneously with smartphones, allowing the brushing time to be observed directly by the patient, making oral and dental care attractive for users.

A number of accidents caused by charged toothbrushes can also occur if they are not used correctly. Assoc. Dr. “Although these brushes have pressure warning systems, patients who have a habit of over-pressure brushing are referred to our clinics with complaints of gum withdrawal or injury when using a charged toothbrush,” was said.

An assist that emphasizes that conscious use is important during charged tooth brushing. Assoc. Dr. “There are a number of rules that should be considered when using charged toothbrushes. After the brush’s bristles are positioned so that they face the gum and wrap the tooth like a hood, the teeth should be brushed one by one, so that they remain on average 5-10 seconds on each tooth. Not only the outer parts of the teeth, but also the inner parts facing the tongue, should be brushed. It should not be forgotten that bacteria will also accumulate around porcelain teeth, and these teeth should also be brushed.”

At the same time Dentist in Turkey warned that “because charged toothbrushes are self-moving, if a person moves the brush himself at the same time when the brush head is working, it can cause abrasions, gum injuries and gum withdrawals, especially in the neck area of the tooth.”

“Before using these brushes, you should visit a Turkish dentist clinic and get information about how to use the received brush effectively,” Dentist in Turkey said.
