WHAT IS GENITAL AESTHETICS? WHAT CAUSES DARKENING IN THE GENITAL AREA?

Turkey Medicals member hospital Aesthetic Genital Surgeons and Sexology Doctor answered the questions about best genital aesthetic applications in Turkey. Here is what you need to know about the genital aesthetic operations such as labioplasty (inner lip aesthetics), vagina narrowing (vaginoplasty), and removal of birth seam marks (perineoplasty).

What is genital aesthetics? What causes darkening in the genital area?

Genital plastic surgeries tend to increase rapidly all over the world. It can even be called the one that has the best acceleration among all aesthetic operations. The situation is no different in our country either. Labioplasti (inner lips), narrowing the vagina (vaginoplasty) and the elimination of the traces stitch birth (perineoplasti) is among the most common genital cosmetic surgery.

On the other hand, treatments aimed at increasing sexual pleasure, such as vaginal laser, genital radiofrequency and PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), which have gained high place especially in recent years, are also very popular. Laser mesotherapy and decolorizing solution treatments applied to patients presenting with complaints of darkening of the color in the genital area can also be quite effective results.

Why do patients prefer genital aesthetics?

Correction of aesthetic appearance is the first reason. This is followed by psychological, functional and sexual reasons. There are many other underlying reasons such as being ashamed of a partner, being shy, not feeling sexual intercourse, not being able to orgasm, not being comfortable in social environments, having hygienic problems, being exposed to frequent vaginal infections, rubbing when wearing tight pants, tights, and being irritated.

What are the most commonly preferred operations?

Most often, we do labioplasty, that is, the operation of “inner lip aesthetics”. Labioplasty is performed to reduce sagging and longer-than-usual inner lips. Sometimes it is also preferred to correct symmetry breaking. The most important part of the operation is to remove the skin folds on the clitoris along with labiaplasty. Otherwise, the results may even be worse than before. These operations must necessarily be performed by experienced hands.

Labioplasty operations are followed by vagina narrowing operations. Vaginal prolapses, dilatations, Decelerations during sexual intercourse due to childbirth and age are among the most common complaint topics. In vaginal narrowing surgeries, the back wall of the vagina is narrowed along the entire vaginal canal. Repairing the tears of the fascia (protective sheath) and the vaginal muscles that are separated from each other further increases the tightening.

At the same time, birth seam marks or skin folds in the perineum (vagina-muscle area) that cause problems in aesthetic and functional aspects can also be corrected. As a rule, after the operation, recovery occurs quickly, without leaving any traces. On the other hand, simultaneously with these operations, the color darkening of the genital area can also be corrected with frequent decolorizing treatments.

What causes color darkening in the genital area?

The genital area is an area rich in the hormone estrogen. Estrogen is activated by the UV rays of the sun, stimulating the pigment-producing cells in the area between the epidermis and the dermis of the skin. These cells, called ‘melanocytes’, cause the skin to darken in color with the pigment they secrete. But the fat and hair follicles and vascular structures located in the epidermis and dermis also cause darkening of the color. In particular, frequent visits to the solarium, frequent sunbathing, smoking, pregnancies, aging, menopause, birth control pill use, laser hair removal and genetic predisposition are among the important factors. On the other hand, hormonal diseases such as polycystic ovary syndrome, Addison’s disease, constant use of estrogen-derived drugs can also cause darkening of the color. Discoloration of the genital area can lead to psychological problems such as lack of self-confidence and embarrassment of a partner in people.

How is decoloring performed in the genital area?

Most often, we receive support from genital laser, mesotherapy and decolorizing solutions. Erbiumyag and CO2 lasers have a peeling effect on the epidermis layer due to their thermal effects. It has no direct effects on melanocyte cells. On the other hand, ‘White-In’, one of the mesotherapy products containing glutathione and arbutin, acts directly on melanocyte cells and provides skin discoloration. This mesotherapy product, which is used for spots on the face, neck, décolleté and hands, is also used alone or in combination with other treatments for the purpose of discoloration of blackening of the genital area and armpits. After application as a superficial injection into the skin layer, the risk is almost minimal. Mesotherapy applications can also be performed simultaneously with laser treatments.

Do decolorizing solutions work?

Especially in recent years, different solutions have also been introduced to the market for the purpose of bleaching the genital area. The advantageous aspect of these products is that they can be applied directly to the skin surface without any interventional procedures and applications. Glutathione, genistein, chloroacetic acid, kojicacid, papain, bisabolol, glycyrrhizaglabra root extract such as composite substances in its content provide very funny results.

In addition to the genital area, it can be applied to areas such as groin, pubis hill, nipple, armpit and knee and elbow. On the other hand, it can provide skin rejuvenation (tightening, shine and fullness) thanks to the antioxidant-effective substances in its content. In order to achieve the best effect, it is recommended that the first application be performed in a clinical setting and accompanied by a Turkish medical staff, and that the applications be repeated on average in 3-5 sessions with an interval of 7-10 days.
