NEW CRITERIA ARE COMING TO OBESITY SURGERIES

Ankara, the Turkish Ministry of Health, which was alarmed by the Parliamentary obesity Commission, prepared a draft regulation “on obesity surgery, opening obesity centers, registration, working methods and principles”. Accordingly a Turkish doctor who cannot receive Obesity Surgery Training and certification will not be able to perform obesity surgery. Turkish surgeons who do will be heavily sanctioned until they are banned from the profession. Obesity surgery cannot be performed in hospitals that do not have intensive care, do not have relevant branches and Turkish gastreontrologists.

NEW ROUTE TO OBESITY IS BEING DRAWN

The “Obesity” study carried out by the Turkish Parliamentary obesity Commission for 2.5 years, has begun to bear fruit. Taking into account the recommendations and recommendations of the parliament, the Ministry of Health will publish a regulation that sets a “new route to obesity”.

The most critical regulation in the draft regulation will be the inability of every doctor to perform obesity surgery. The ministry will prepare an “obesity certification program” with the relevant professional organization, and only surgeons who receive training will be able to undergo obesity surgery. Surgeons who are currently performing obesity surgery, experienced in bariatric surgical approaches and advanced laporoscopy activities, will be considered to have received the certification program. Surgeons performing operations without a certificate will be heavily sanctioned, which leads to a ban from the profession.

Turkey Medicals, “People who will undergo surgery will be informed about the risks of the operation and their consent will be obtained. Operations in Turkey can be performed in centers with intensive care services, endoscopy units and surgical facilities equipped with bariatric surgery.” was said.
