HERE’S A MOSQUITO PROTECTION GUIDE

Mosquitoes, which have become our fearful dream every summer, have also started to show their ‘bloody’ face this year. Although many measures, especially spraying, are taken and the head is tired of various methods of fighting, the situation is getting worse every year. Global warming is one of the most painful reasons for this. According to experts, “we can now see even a fly that we have never seen before in our region.” So how can Turkish citizen take precautions for mosquitoes? Here are the ways in which the pointy nightmare goes and the individual methods of fighting, including the ‘flowery’ measure decisively.

According to experts, climate change is the biggest cause of the increase in pests, especially mosquitoes. Sudden changes in temperature can change the living conditions of flies. The most commonly used method for fighting spikes in Turkey is the classic spraying method.

In the 1990s, the spraying tools etched in the memory of those who were children with fun, chasing after them, have been on a busy shift again for the last 2 years. But according to experts, the classic method of fighting no longer benefits. There are other measures to be taken.

.
WE ALSO NEED TO TALK ABOUT BIOLOGICAL METHODS

Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Head of the Department of virology professor gave advice.

“The way to combat the harm of flies is to reduce its population. In first place, I can say that the most important source of struggle is spraying,” said Prof. “At the same time, some fish that are put in ponds consume fly Lavra,” Professor said of other methods of fighting. In this way, a biological struggle can be given,” he said.

.
CLIMATE CHANGE EMPHASIS

The fact that the weather goes from hot to cold can change the living conditions of flies. For this reason, you can even see a fly in your area that you have never seen.

If we look at the direction of the disease, we should also divide the flies into several categories. These are called mosquitoes, smelly flies, and dodgy flies.

.
BEWARE OF THE DISEASES THEY CARRY!

When we look at diseases transmitted by mosquitoes, the most important is the West Nile Virus. The other is Chikungunya virus. We can count about 50 viruses. But West Nile Fever, which has also caused problems recently, especially in Europe, is found in both mosquitoes and birds.

It creates problems from time to time in countries such as Italy, Spain. Interestingly, the West Nile virus can also be observed in birds. Mosquitoes that suck the blood of birds take this virus and infect humans.

This virus has a bird-mosquito and human-like cycle. This virus, also found in horses, does not infect humans from horses. We can be considered lucky that it is not a virus transmitted by human-to-human contact.

.
MEANING OF GIANT SWELLS

Prof. pointed to the Iran-Iraq line for its pointed swells of a size that we were not used to seeing before.

Prof, “yakarca, also known as sand flies, can cause viruses in countries such as Iran-Iraq, even from time to time in our country. The virus they infect causes fever and vomiting, which are not very deadly. It can be fatal if a person has underlying and triggering diseases. The ones that cause these swelling are small flies from mosquitoes. They can also infect leishmaniasis (layshmanyaz), known as eastern boils. This is more troublesome infection. It is a parasite that can create lesions on the skin in humans,” he said.

Experts recommend against mosquitoes, lavender flower, which is also planted in abundance in Turkey and sold potted in florists at an affordable price.

.
WHAT SHOULD A CITIZEN DO?

In the fight against mosquitoes, especially municipalities, the public has a great task to remind the professor made the following suggestions:

Ejected food particles cause mosquito formation. Our citizens should be careful about this.

.
LAVENDER FLOWER AND LEMON OIL RECOMMENDATION

Small ponds formed at the same time should be dried. A Citizen can apply lavender flower oil and lemon oil to their exposed places to protect themselves.

But they do not provide one hundred percent protection. Once it wears off, there may be fly bites again.

According to a worldwide study, 225 million people contracted malaria in just one year. 780 thousand of them died.

.
ATTENTION TO THE TIMING OF SPRAYING

November – March to decontaminate the fight against mosquitoes emphasized that Uludag University Department of Parasitology faculty member Prof. warned of ‘timing’ for spraying. March, that is, mosquitoes larval periods should give the fight with.” You have very little chance of killing during spraying. The spraying needs to be done on time,” he said.

Doctor made the following suggestions for citizens:

Prevent the formation of environments in which stagnant water will accumulate, such as puddles in gardens, old car tires.

Open water canisters are mosquito spawning grounds. These should be taken care of.

Ponds, whose number has increased in recent years, are also places where precautions should be taken in terms of stagnant water areas.

.
THERE’S AN ASIAN AND A MIDDLE EASTERN

Dangerous species of flies, the Asian Tiger Mosquito was detected in Turkey 10 years ago at the border with Ipsala. For the last 4-5 years, it has also settled in Istanbul, and the population has started to increase. Again, yakarcas, also known as sand flies, seen on the Iran-Iraq line, have also become a cause of viruses in our country.
