THE HARMS OF SLEEPING WITHOUT CLEANSING MAKEUP

Dry eye disease, which significantly reduces quality of life, affects almost half of society. Delay in the dry eye treatment can cause permanent damage to the eye. The incidence and severity of this disease, which can occur for different reasons, increases after menopause, especially in women. The fact that women do not clean eye makeup while lying down and the materials used are of poor quality can also disrupt eye health and prepare the basis for the problem of dry eyes. Turkey Medicals hospital member and Eye diseases specialist Turkish Professor Doctor gave information about dry eye disease.

.
DRY EYES CAN THREATEN VISION

Dry eyes is an eye disease that can seriously affect quality of life and can also threaten vision if left untreated.

Symptoms include burning in the eye, stinging, itching, watering, feeling of sand, redness, fluctuation in vision during the day, and fatigue felt in the eye. Many people experience these complaints, but are not aware that they have a dry eye condition.

.
DRY EYES NEGATIVELY AFFECT DAILY LIFE

Air conditioning, dry and polluted air in interaction with the external environment, such as the need to blink our eyes at certain intervals and we perform an average of more than 10 thousand blink movements per day.

This means that when there is dryness in the eye, the lack of comfort and deterioration in the quality of vision will be felt with each blink.

.
IT ALSO THREATENS THOSE WITH RHEUMATOLOGICAL DISEASE

Dry eye disease can develop due to different causes and is mainly studied in three main groups. These main causes are a small amount of tears called acous insufficiency, a lipid deficiency or evaporation due to inflammation of the bottom of the eyelash, and the coexistence of the two conditions.

Dry eye disease due to acous insufficiency is usually seen in people with rheumatological disease and is often accompanied by a complaint of dry mouth. Dry eye disease, characterized by evaporation of Tears, is also common. This type of dry eye, which can occur at any age, increases with age.

.
THE INCIDENCE OF DRY EYE DISEASE INCREASES AFTER MENOPAUSE

The age of onset of dry eye disease varies according to the underlying cause. For example, dry eyes that develop due to rheumatological-based diseases and the age at which complaints that develop due to evaporation may differ. But with age, the incidence and severity of dry eye disease after menopause, especially in women, increases. For this reason, women should be in very close control during this period.

In addition, dry eye disease occurs in children at a much earlier age, especially due to the recent increased exposure to digital screens. The circumstances that cause this problem to occur; they are advancing age, menopause in women, screen exposure, dry climate, some systemic diseases, and drugs, the use of air conditioning, drinking less water, poor nutrition, and lid can be listed as failure to pay attention to contact lens hygiene.

.
WATCH YOUR EYE MAKEUP!

The wrong choice of makeup materials for Women, regular cleaning of eye makeup, the quality of the materials used in eye makeup and the proximity of the makeup made to the front surface of the eye can directly affect eye health. Oil, an important part of Tears, is produced in the meibomian glands on the eyelids.

This produced oil is secreted from the eyelash edge to the anterior surface of the eye. Therefore, daily and proper cleaning of the makeup done leads to the blockage of the ends of these glands and the death of these glands in a long period, laying the groundwork for the formation of dry eye disease. In addition, the quality of the makeup materials to be selected is also very important. Some chemicals in makeup cause inflammation at the bottom of the eyelashes, while the way and intensity of makeup is also another factor that can affect eye health.

.
WOMEN WHO WEAR PERMANENT MAKEUP SHOULD NOT NEGLECT A ROUTINE EYE EXAM

It is important that women who wear makeup constantly do not neglect a routine eye exam. In addition to general eye examination, dry eye and ocular surface tests should be carried out in detail. Our clinical experience, unfortunately, shows that there is not enough emphasis on Valve hygiene in our society. In female patients, especially the lids, eyelash edges, meibomian glands, tears and front surface of the eye should be analyzed with high technological devices and all patients should be told about the importance of special massage and cleaning to the bottom of the lid/ eyelash. Raising awareness of this issue is very important in preventing dry eye disease.

.
YOU CAN PROTECT YOUR EYE HEALTH WITH SPECIAL TREATMENTS DONE IN OFFICE ENVIRONMENT

In addition to routine hygiene care, special treatments that will be performed at regular intervals under the supervision of a doctor in an office environment also protect eye health. The aim of this treatment method, which will be used in Turkey recently, is to achieve a healthier tear by performing rhythmic massages with hot application to the lower and upper lids, by emptying the solidified fat in the glands.

.
DELAY IN TREATMENT CAN CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE EYE

Everyone should have an eye exam once a year, whether they have eye complaints or not. Early diagnosis and treatment are extremely important. Delays in the treatment of dry eye disease, in particular, can cause permanent damage to the eye. In our patients diagnosed with dry eye disease, the follow-up Interval also varies depending on the condition of the disease.
