BEWARE OF KIDNEYS IN A PANDEMIC

Turkey Medicals member and Internal Medicine and Nephrology specialist Prof. Dr. gave vital advice against kidney diseases that are progressing insidiously and have increased in frequency in recent years.

Many adults in Turkey continue their lives unaware that they have chronic kidney disease. This is why most of the time it is late for diagnosis and treatment. In the pandemic process, especially in terms of chronic kidney disease in the risk group (diabetes, heart, hypertension patients and kidney disease in the family) people should not disrupt the control of the Internal Medicine and Nephrology specialist Prof. Dr. listed the ways to prevent kidney diseases as follows:

.
EAT A HEALTHY DIET

  • Have the Ideal body weight. Restrict salt intake, do not exceed 5 grams of salt per day. Avoid processed foods and prepared foods. Excess protein intake increases the burden of the kidney. Turkish alcohol also negatively affects kidney health.
    .
About half of diabetics have kidney disease. About half of those on dialysis are also diabetics. Have regular health checks or measure your blood sugar from your finger. It is especially recommended that you do this regularly over the age of 50.
    .
One of the most important causes of kidney diseases is hypertension. Regular blood pressure measurement should be done over middle age and after menopause in women.

.
GET ENOUGH FLUIDS DO NOT SMOKE

  • The recommended daily intake of liquid is 2 liters per day, and this includes all the daily liquid you receive (such as water, tea, soft drinks, soup).
    .
  • Smoking reduces kidney blood flow. This, in turn, leads to impaired kidney function. Smoking also increases the rate of progression of chronic kidney disease and the risk of kidney cancer.
    .
All drugs, especially used in rheumatic diseases and called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory Group, damage the kidney. Some antibiotics can damage the kidney. Take regular blood pressure and sugar medications prescribed by your Turkish doctor in Antalya and Istanbul Turkey.
    .
  • Be careful to take at least 6 thousand steps a day to maintain kidney health.

.
KNOW YOUR FAMILY’S HEALTH HISTORY

  • The vast majority of kidney diseases do not give a symptom and are recognized as a result of abnormalities in laboratory tests. For this reason, urea, creatinine, urinalysis and, if possible, protein determination in the urine should be performed once a year.
    .
  • Human kidney diseases can be largely inherited, although it is not possible to prevent hereditary diseases, it is possible to prevent them from watching negatively. In addition, headaches can be a sign of hypertension, urination at night, prostate enlargement, drinking a lot of water can be a sign of diabetes. After urinating, go back and look in the toilet.
