Istanbul managed to accommodate 2.9 million tourists in the first 3 months of 2022. Istanbul had welcomed 3 million tourists in the same period of 2019. According to the data of Istanbul Directorate of Culture and Tourism, considering the distribution of tourists coming to Istanbul by country, the number of tourists coming from Russia increased by 35 percent to 256 thousand, from Iran by 114 percent to 254 thousand, the number of visitors from Germany increased by 160 percent to 228 thousand in the first 3 months of the year. The number of arrivals from France increased by 190 percent to 115 thousand and the number from the UK increased by 700 percent to 110 thousand.
