What is HbA1c?

A measurement performed to control diabetes along with the average blood sugar level is called hba1c glycolized hemoglobin. This is a blood test, and people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes should have it done regularly. HbA1c is your average blood sugar (sugar) levels for the last two to three months.

For people who are not diabetic, the hemoglobin A1c level is normally between 4 and 5.6%. hemoglobin A1c levels between 5.7 and 6.4% mean that you have a higher risk of developing diabetes. levels of 6.5% or higher mean that you have diabetes.

Red blood cells, that is, red blood cells, contain hemoglobin, which carries oxygen. In addition, glucose is also contained in the same cell. During the 3-month life of the red blood cell, glucose sticks to oxygen-carrying hemoglobins, causing them to change and turn into a new state called HbA1c. If the glycosylation rate is too high as a result of this test, which measures the sugar level in the blood and gives a three-month average, it becomes clear that controlling a person’s diabetes is not enough. Along with this test, information is obtained about whether changes should be made to the drugs used by diabetics.
